Abstract National and local governments need to step up efforts effectively implement the post‐2020 global biodiversity framework of Convention on Biological Diversity halt reverse worsening trends. Drawing recent advances in interdisciplinary science, we propose a for improved implementation by national subnational governments. First, identification actions promotion ownership across stakeholders recognize multiple values account remote responsibility. Second, cross‐sectorial mainstreaming...
Highly imbalanced data, which occurs in many real-world applications, often makes machine-based processing difficult or even impossible. The over- and under-sampling methods help to tackle this issue, however they have serious shortcomings. In paper different of class balancing, especially those obtained by undersampling, are analyzed. Besides, a new solution is presented. method oriented toward finding thinning clusters majority examples. Removing observations from high-density areas can...
Abstract Species‐rich communities exhibit higher levels of ecosystem functioning compared with species‐poor ones, and this positive relationship strengthens over time. One proposed explanation for phenomenon is the reduction niche overlap among plants or animals, which corresponds to increased complementarity reduced competition. In order examine potential animals strengthen between diversity functions, we integrated models bio‐energetic population dynamics food‐web assembly. Through...
Fragility fractures are the major consequence of osteoporosis. Thus, fracture risk assessment is an essential part diagnostic process in osteoporosis. The aim study was to develop algorithm for prediction.Bone status evaluated a population‑basedcohort postmenopausal women at mean (SD) age 66.4 (7.8) years. Subsequently, all participants were contacted by phone once year (for 10 consecutive years) update their history fractures. At end 10‑year follow‑up, number 640, whom 129 had 190...
In the longitudinal, retrospective study, ability of FRAX, Garvan, and POL-RISK algorithms to predict osteoporotic fractures was compared in a group 457 women. Using rigid threshold 10% showed significant discrepancy sensitivity specificity all tools. New thresholds for high risk were established each calculator separately: 6.3% FRAX major fracture, 20.0% Garvan any 18.0% fracture. Such allow improving diagnostic accuracy three calculators.
In the DECODE project, data were collected from 3,114 surveys filled by symptomatic patients RT-qPCR tested for SARS-CoV-2 in a single university centre March-September 2020. The population demonstrated balanced sex and age with 759 SARS-CoV-2( +) patients. most discriminative symptoms at early infection stage loss of taste/smell (OR = 3.33, p < 0.0001), body temperature above 38℃ 1.67, muscle aches 1.30, 0.0242), headache 1.27, 0.0405), cough 1.26, 0.0477). Dyspnea was more often reported...
The paper presents the concept of a control unit, i.e., scenario player, for interactive training pilots in flight simulators. This player is modelled as hierarchy finite state machines. Such an approach makes it possible to separate details augmented reality display device which used training, from core module system, responsible contextual organization content. Therefore, first contribution this mathematical model universal formulation self-trained unit learning systems, applicable variety...
Abstract Summary The study shows that the use of unified cutoff thresholds to identify high fracture risks by two popular calculators—FRAX and Garvan—leads a significant discrepancy between prediction fractures their actual prevalence over period 10 years. On basis ROC analyses, proposal differentiated is presented. They were established at 6% for FRAX major risk, 1.4% hip 14.4% Garvan any 8.8% risk. Purpose/introduction aim was verify how much tools, designed predict risks, precise vs....
Class imbalance is a common problem with datasets relating to various areas of life. It causes many traditional machine learning algorithms tend misclassify minority samples as majority ones. Despite studies, the class still remains relevant for which no one-size-fits-all solution has been found. In this paper, an undersampling method based on clustering presented. proposed approach K-means algorithm used cluster data. homogenous "majority" clusters, i.e., clusters containing objects only...
New diseases constantly endanger the lives of populations, and, nowadays, they can spread easily and constitute a global threat. The COVID-19 pandemic has shown that fight against new disease may be difficult, especially at initial stage epidemic, when medical knowledge is not complete symptoms are ambiguous. use machine learning tools help to filter out those sick patients who do need tested for spreading pathogen, in event an overwhelming increase transmission. This work presents screening...
The possibility of using MOODLE e-learning platform as an environment for education database issues, concerning basic objects and users creating, analysis transaction management was analyzed in the paper. All needed extensions were made php scripts tested chosen servers: MySQL, SQL Server Oracle DBMS. Results these tests satisfactory, confirming preliminary assumptions interactive teaching issues.
