The properties of a novel Gd3+-based MRI zinc sensor are reported. Unlike previously reported contrast agents, this agent (GdL) differs in that the alone binds only weakly with human serum albumin (HSA), while 1:2 GdL:Zn2+ ternary complex strongly to HSA resulting substantial, 3-fold increase water proton relaxivity. GdL is shown have relatively strong binding affinity for Zn2+ (KD = 33.6 nM), similar ion alone. detects as little 30 μM presence by vitro, value slightly more than total...

Elevation of postprandial glucose stimulates release insulin from granules stored in pancreatic islet β-cells. We demonstrate here that divalent zinc ions coreleased with β-cells response to high are readily detected by MRI using the Zn 2+ -responsive T 1 agent, GdDOTA-diBPEN. Image contrast was significantly enhanced mouse pancreas after injection a bolus followed low dose sensor. Images were not agent mice without addition stimulate release, nor images streptozotocin-treated or added...

Significance The normal prostate gland contains the most Zn(II) of all mammalian tissues, and there are marked differences in content between healthy, malignant, benign hyperplastic prostate. Given that multiparametric MRI does not always reliably distinguish these tissue conditions, release ions from response to an external stimulus may prove valuable as a specific biomarker cancer progression. In this work, we show glucose stimulates intracellular stores healthy secretion is reduced...

Synthetic azo dyes, such as tartrazine, sunset yellow and allura red have sensitive polarographic waves in solution (pH 9.2). However, the dyes are seriously overlapped making their simultaneous determination difficult without previous sample preparation. The aim of this work was to apply partial least squares (PLS) multivariate calibration commonplace electrochemical technique differential pulse polarography (DPP) for dye's three component mixture at trace levels (0.05–1.00 μmol/L). method...
