ANITA (Atmospheric-like Neutrons from thIck Target), a new neutron facility for accelerated testing of components and systems single event effects, has been put into operation at The Svedberg Laboratory in Uppsala, Sweden. Results beam characterization measurements are reported.
The paper presents new knowledge on primary defect formation in tungsten (W) and iron (Fe) irradiated by fission high-energy neutrons at near-room temperature. Using a well-established method of positron-annihilation lifetime-spectroscopy (PALS), it was found that irradiation W the reactor from p(35 MeV)-Be generator leads to small radiation-induced vacancy clusters with comparable mean size. In case Fe, smaller size measured after compared generator. It one reasons larger defects lower...
Neutron activation and gamma spectrometry are usable also for the determination of cross-sections different neutron reactions. We have studied cross-section yttrium (n,xn) threshold reactions using quasi mono-energetic source based on reaction 7Li target at Nuclear Physics Institute ASCR in Rez. Yttrium suitable candidates fast field measurement by detectors. Fast monitoring is necessary already today a wide range accelerator facilities will gain importance future reactors generation IV,...
The neutrons for science (NFS) facility is a component of SPIRAL-2, the new superconducting linear accelerator built at GANIL in Caen (France). proton and deuteron beams delivered by will allow producing intense neutron fields 100 keV-40 MeV energy range. Continuous quasi-mono-kinetic spectra, respectively, be available NFS, produced interaction beam on thick Be converter 7Li(p,n) reaction thin converter. pulsed beam, with flux up to two orders magnitude higher than those other existing...
Numerous domains, in fundamental research as well applications, require the study of reactions induced by neutrons with energies from few MeV up to tens MeV. Reliable measurements also are necessary improve evaluated databases used nuclear transport codes. This energy range covers a large number topics like transmutation waste, design future fission and fusion reactors, medicine or test development new detectors. A facility called Neutrons For Science (NFS) is being built for this purpose on...
