Abstract Burgeoning urbanization, development and human activities have led to reduced opportunities for nature experience in quiet acoustic environments. Increasing noise affects both humans wildlife alike. We experimentally altered human‐caused sound levels a paired study using informational signs that encouraged behaviours week‐on, week‐off blocks on the trail system of Muir Woods National Monument, California, USA test if soundscape influences experiences. Using continuous measurements...
We propose a theoretical framework characterizing (1) the attenuation of flood risks revealed by zone designation in insurance rate maps and (2) asymmetric impacts adding versus removing status on property values. apply spatial fixed effects models to empirically investigate test proposed theory. The results indicate that housing values decrease more than 11% when is assigned into zone. However, do not rebound removed. (JEL Q51)
The Mendelian randomization approach uses genetic variants as instrumental variables to study the causal association between risk factors and health outcomes of interest. We aimed examine relation alcohol consumption cardiovascular using two variables: dehydrogenase 1B (
Preventing Chronic Disease (PCD) is a peer-reviewed electronic journal established by the National Center for Prevention and Health Promotion. PCD provides an open exchange of information knowledge among researchers, practitioners, policy makers, others who strive to improve health public through chronic disease prevention.
Abstract This study investigates how exposure to riskier environments influences risky road behaviors, using the COVID‐19 pandemic as a natural experiment. Utilizing administrative individual traffic violation records from Taipei, where neither mandatory lockdown nor mobility restrictions were imposed, we find that pandemic‐induced risk decreased speeding violations and effect was transitory. However, no significant changes observed concerning with minimal of casualties, such illegal...
Climate change is amplifying the threat of drought to food security. While can cause significant agricultural production loss through both crop yield and acreage, previous studies have mostly overlooked impacts on acres. To address this gap, we study corn soybean in U.S. counties from 2001 2019, examining planned planting acres, prevented planting, abandonment as climate adaptation responses. Our findings show that 28% (26%) (soybean) be attributed net effect farmers' decisions Moreover,...

This study provides the first evidence of economic benefits bicycle-sharing systems by identifying these systems’ impacts on rental property values. Using listing data in Taiwan and applying a spatial difference-in-differences strategy, we find that inception system significantly increases prices nearby properties. Results also indicate citizens benefit from solving first-and-last-mile problem public transportation but do not value as an independent mode. We robust showing improves air quality.
