Pancreatic cancer (PC) often presents late with poor survival. While role of immunosuppressive cells in preclinical studies provided help to develop immunotherapeutic agents, these remain under investigation PC. The aim this study was characterise the different subsets myeloid-derived suppressor (MDSCs) and evaluate their level function circulation tissue PC patients. Significant increases circulating tumour-infiltrating granulocytic (Lin-HLA-DR-CD33+CD11b+CD15+), but not monocytic...

Nanomedicines, while having been approved for cancer therapy, present many challenges such as low stability, rapid clearance, and nonspecificity leading to off-target toxicity. Cubosomes are porous lyotropic liquid crystalline nanoparticles that have shown great premise drug delivery vehicles; however, their behavior in vivo is largely underexplored, hindering clinical translation. Here, we engineered cubosomes based on the space group Im3m loaded with copper acetylacetonate a model drug,...

Abstract Background Laparoscopic distal pancreatectomy (LDP) is increasingly being performed as an alternative to open surgery. Whether the implementation and corresponding learning curve of LDP have impact on patient outcome unknown. The aim was investigate temporal trends in practice across UK centres. Methods This a retrospective multicentre observational cohort study 11 tertiary referral centres between 2006 2016. analysed by pooling data for first 15 consecutive patients who had...

Abstract Background Cystgastrostomy is the commonest method of internal drainage pancreatic pseudocysts ( PPs ). While large and persistent retrogastric are amenable to laparoscopic cystgastrostomy, potential benefits this minimally invasive approach over open surgery remain be demonstrated. The aim study was compare outcomes approaches for cystgastrostomy. Methods Patients who underwent cystgastrostomy LCG ) were matched on a 3:1 basis those OCG according age, sex distribution, size...

Advances in surgical technologies allowed safe laparoscopic pancreaticoduodenectomy (LPD). The aim of this study is to compare the oncologic outcomes LPD open (OPD) terms safety and recurrence rate.A cohort 30 patients were matched for age, sex, American Society Anaesthesiologists, tumor size, pancreatic duct diameter, histopathologic diagnosis on a 1:1 basis (15 LPD, 15 OPD). Comparison between groups was performed intention-to-treat basis. Survival following resection compared using...

Introduction: Although the laparoscopic approach to distal pancreatectomy for benign and malignant diseases is largely replacing open surgery in some centers, well-designed studies comparing these approaches are limited. We present a case-matched study that compares outcomes of (LDP) (ODP). Methods: Of 112 patients (51 female) who underwent between January 2002 December 2011, 44 were matched on 1:1 basis (22 LDP, 22 ODP) according age, sex, tumor size. Outcomes compared an intention-to-treat...

Pancreatic resection and/or ductal drainage are common surgical options in the management of unremitting abdominal pain chronic pancreatitis (CP). We describe results largest UK series laparoscopic approach to pancreatic duct and head for CP.Patients with CP intractable requiring duodenum-preserving (Berne modification Beger procedure) or Puestow procedure were offered surgery by a single surgeon.
