Here, we report on a novel class of fluorofoldamer-based artificial water channels (AWCs) that combines excellent transport rate and selectivity with structural simplicity robustness. Produced by facile one-pot copolymerization reaction under mild conditions, the best-performing channel (AWC 1) is an n-C8H17-decorated foldamer nanotube average length 2.8 nm pore diameter 5.2 Å. AWC 1 demonstrates ultrafast conduction 1.4 × 1010 H2O/s per channel, outperforming archetypal biological aquaporin...

Yearlong, one-in-three-day, source apportionment results were applied to literature values of specific BrC, BC, and dust mass absorption cross-sections (MAC) estimate the contribution 370 nm near-UV light at Fresno Bakersfield, San Joquin Valley (SJV), California. The reconstructed agreed well (r2 0.94 0.90 Bakersfield) with co-located AE33 aethalometer measurements. Near-UV was attributed total mobile, vegetative detritus, wood combustion, meat cooking, SOA sources. Winter BrC dominated by...

Abstract Among many roles, conferences disseminate research, grow professional networks, and train employees. They also significantly contribute to climate change due their sizable carbon footprint. More recently, additional negative aspects have surfaced. Namely, they present significant barriers achieving Diversity, Equity, Inclusion (DEI). Here, we perform a meta-analysis of events that transitioned virtual formats during the COVID-19 pandemic show this approach may provide solution. Our...

This analysis investigates energy performance of the residential and commercial building sectors in Electric Reliability Council Texas (ERCOT) during Winter Storm Uri. ERCOT electricity demand was modeled for baseline stock as well retrofitted with an efficiency upgrade package, electrification + package. The scenario that buildings air-source heat pumps (ASHPs) would have lowered daily peak relative to every day year, except week As mean outdoor temperature dropped below -5{\deg}C...

This analysis quantitatively compares the evolution in summer and winter peak demands Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) service area from 1997 through 2021. Weather data for days which demand occurred were also compiled to investigate relationship between heating cooling loads ambient temperature. was then applied along with population projections a climate scenario medium high radiative forcing create growth scenarios 2025 2050. informs resource planners about how ERCOT might...
