The mechanical properties of an Mg–Zn–Ca alloy were significantly improved through extrusion deformation. High-density spheroidal Ca 2 Mg 6 Zn 3 with a diameter ranging from 10 to 50 nm dynamically precipitated during microstructure the as-extruded was obviously refined compared that as-cast counterpart. A bimodal consisting coarsely deformed grains and finely recrystallised obtained extrusion. Additionally, exhibited strong basal texture. Consequently, yield strength increased 42 MPa 285 alloy.
