Antioxidant activity of Australian tea tree (Melaleuca alternifolia) oil (TTO) was determined using two different assays. In the 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl assay, 10 microL/mL crude TTO in methanol had approximately 80% free radical scavenging activity, and hexanal/hexanoic acid 200 exhibited 60% inhibitory against oxidation hexanal to hexanoic over 30 days. These results were equivalent antioxidant activities mM butylated hydroxytoluene both tests at same experimental conditions. This...
Green tea catechins (GTCs) as a mixture of (−)-epicatechin (EC), gallate (ECG), (−)-epigallocatechin (EGC), and (EGCG) possess variety biological activities. We have previously studied the stability GTCs either or individual epicatechin derivatives in various pH, demonstrating that alkaline solutions were extremely unstable degraded almost completely few minutes, whereas acidic (pH < 4) they very stable. For pH ranging from 4 to 7, was inversely associated with value incubation solutions....
The present study found that the supercritical fluid extract of "Guangchenpi" possessed in vitro antiviral activity against respiratory syncytial virus (RSV). Bioassay-guided isolation and identification this led to obtain five active polymethoxylated flavones (1-5). Cytopathic effect (CPE) reduction assay exhibited tangeretin (2) nobiletin (3), two major extract, better anti-RSV comparable positive control ribavirin. Plaque revealed dose-dependently inhibited RSV-induced plaque formation on...
Antioxidant capacities of vetiver (Vetiveria zizanioides) oil were evaluated by two different in vitro assays: the DPPH• free radical scavenging assay and Fe2+-metal chelating assay. Results showed that (VO) possessed a strong activity when compared to standard antioxidants such as butylated hydroxytoluene (BHT) α-tocopherol. However, its metal capacity was relatively weak. VO (10 μL/mL) dissolved methanol exhibited ∼93% ∼34% Fe2+ By contrast, 10 mM BHT 0.1 α-tocopherol 93 89% activities...

Abstract The present study shows that activation of the transient receptor potential vanilloid 3 channel (TRPV3) suppresses adipocyte differentiation. We also found a major functional catechin compound in green tea and cocoa, (−)-epicatechin, exerts antiadipogenic effects adipocytes through direct TRPV3. TRPV3 was detected 3T3-L1 using immunohistochemistry semiquantitative PCR. by activators (−)-epicatechin diphenylborinic anhydride determined live cell fluorescent Ca2+ imaging patch-clamp...
Abstract Salty taste is one of the five basic tastes and often elicited by NaCl. Because excess sodium intake associated with many health problems, it could be useful to have salt enhancers that are not based. In this study, regulation NaCl-induced responses was investigated in cultured human fungiform papillae (HBO) cells arginyl dipeptides: Ala-Arg (AR), Arg-Ala (RA), Arg-Pro (RP), Arg-Glu (RE), Glu-Arg (ER); two non-arginyl Asp-Asp (DD) Glu-Asp (ED). AR, RA, RP significantly increased...
Eudesmane-type sesquiterpenes are natural with anti-inflammatory properties, but their anti-angiogenic activities not known. The present study demonstrated that 5α-hydroxycostic acid and hydroxyisocostic acid, two eudesmane-type (ETSs), isolated from the herb Laggera alata, possessed effects. Under non-toxic dosage, ETSs suppressed VEGF‑induced proliferation in human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs) vessel formation zebrafish embryos. Moreover, inhibited VEGF-stimulated HUVEC...
