症例は64歳男性で，肝硬変の経過観察中2001年に径1 cm大の肝細胞癌（HCC）と診断された．HCCの再発のため，経皮的エタノール注入療法（PEIT）を4回，肝動脈塞栓療法（TAE）を3回施行された．2003年に縦隔リンパ節転移を認めたため，UFT®の投与が開始された．しかし，汎血球減少により半年間のみの投与となり，HCCと縦隔リンパ節転移の病状に変化はなく，PEITとTAEが繰り返された．HCCの進行を認めたため，2005年1月にTS-1®投与が開始された．6カ月の経過でHCCと縦隔リンパ節腫大の消失を認め，以後も再発は認めていない．本例のHCCと縦隔リンパ節腫大は，5-FUに感受性があり，ギメラシル（CDHP）により5-FUの血中濃度が高く保たれたため著効したと考えられた．
