To report the etiology of liver cirrhosis cases diagnosed at University Hospital in Vitoria, Espirito Santo, Brazil.METHODS: The medical charts patients with who presented to Vitoria were reviewed.Chronic alcoholism and presence hepatitis B or C infections (HBV HCV, respectively) pursued all cases.RESULTS: sample consisted 1,516 (male:female ratio 3.5:1, aged 53.2¡12.6 years).The following main etiological factors observed: chronic alone (39.7%), association HBV HCV (16.1%),HCV (14.5%)...
To evaluate the familial distribution of hepatitis B virus (HBV), a retrospective analysis medical records patients treated in Vitória, Espírito Santo, Brazil, was performed. Patients with markers HBV infection who had family member evidence were index cases each family.
