Abstract We deal with the nonlinear Schrödinger equation -Δu + V(x)u = f(u) in ℝ N , where V is a (possible) sign changing potential satisfying mild assumptions and nonlinearity f ∈ C 1 (ℝ, ℝ) subcritical superlinear function. By combining variational techniques concentration-compactness principle we obtain positive ground state solution also nodal solution. The proofs rely localizing infimum of associated functional constrained to Nehari type sets.

To investigate the effects of Agave sisalana (A. sisalana) extract on Aedes aegypti (Ae. aegypti) primary cell culture. Cells Ae. were exposed to different concentrations A. crude (0.18–6.00 mg/mL) for 24 h. Then, cells labeled with propidium iodide and subjected fluorescence microscopy verify viability. In addition, nitric oxide production was measured. Results showed that 6 mg/mL presented a greater percentage death when compared control (73.8% ± 9.6% vs. 34.6% 9.6%). Furthermore, there an...

This article describes the classification of biodiesel samples using NIR spectroscopy and chemometric techniques. A total 108 spectra were taken (being three each four types oil, cottonseed, sunflower, soybean canola), from nine manufacturers. The measurements for in spectral region between 12,500 4000 cm(-1). data preprocessed by selecting a range 5000-4500 cm(-1), then Savitzky-Golay second-order polynomial was used with 21 points to obtain second derivative spectra. Characterization done...
