Abstract Deep learning is driving recent advances behind many everyday technologies, including speech and image recognition, natural language processing autonomous driving. It also gaining popularity in biology, where it has been used for automated species identification, environmental monitoring, ecological modelling, behavioural studies, DNA sequencing population genetics phylogenetics, among other applications. relies on artificial neural networks predictive modelling excels at...

Abstract RNA splicing factor (SF) gene mutations are commonly observed in patients with myeloid malignancies. Here we showed that SRSF2- and U2AF1-mutant leukemias preferentially sensitive to PARP inhibitors (PARPi), despite being proficient homologous recombination repair. Instead, SF-mutant exhibited R-loop accumulation elicited an R-loop–associated PARP1 response, rendering cells dependent on activity for survival. Consequently, PARPi induced DNA damage cell death R-loop-dependent manner....

Antifolate resistance is significant in Kenya and presumed to result from extensive use cross-resistance between antifolate antimalarials antibiotics, including cotrimoxazole/Bactrim used for HIV-1 chemotherapy. However, little known about antifolate-resistant malaria the context of newly diagnosed co-infection prior administration Blood samples a cross-sectional study asymptomatic adult Kenyans enrolled during voluntary HIV testing were analyzed by PCR Plasmodium spp. More than 95%...
