Abstract Declining arable land and yield stagnation pose serious challenges to food security in China. Since 2004, the Chinese government has introduced rice support policies stimulate production. A bundle of incentives, including a minimum procurement price, were introduced. Whether they effective? Rice acreages have increased since start this policy, which could also result from rising price levels both nationally globally. Using natural experiment created by policy being selected set...

Abstract In order to tackle climate change and biodiversity loss, the European Union (EU) promotes extensive farming. However, identifying such farms across countries assessing their performance for policy purposes remains challenging. This paper combines a latent class stochastic frontier model (LCSFM) with novel nested metafrontier approach. The resulting enables identification of intensive countries, estimation farm efficiency different technology gaps. Based on Farm Accountancy Data...

The Kohmoto-Kadanoff-Tang renormalization-group method is extended to study the phonon properties of a class one-dimensional quasiperiodic systems. Two models are employed, which correspond equation motion for problems with spring constants equal and two types masses arranged successively in generalized Fibonacci sequences, that sequences. It shown spectra systems Cantor-like do not have uniform scalings. Particularly low-lying excitations tend be low-frequency limit.

The interaction between two Wu's solitons is derived by using the least-action principle approach as a function of distance solitons, which shows that pair with same polarity always attract each other, while those opposite repel (if larger than certain value). It further pointed out both attraction and repulsion short distance, period mutual oscillation caused increases from zero to infinity initial rises. All above results are well coincident experiment.

The Burgers equation is one of the most important prototypic models in nonlinear physics. Various exact solutions have been found by many methods. However, it very difficult to find interactive among different types excitations.
