Metasurfaces, the ultrathin media with extraordinary wavefront modulation ability, have shown versatile potential in manipulating waves. However, existing acoustic metasurfaces are limited by their narrow-band frequency-dependent capability, which severely hinders real-world applications that usually require customized dispersion. To address this bottlenecking challenge, we report ultra-broadband achromatic capable of delivering arbitrary and frequency-independent wave properties bottom-up...

We present the design and evaluation of earPod: an eyes-free menu technique using touch input reactive auditory feedback. Studies comparing earPod with iPod-like visual on reasonably-sized static menus indicate that they are comparable in accuracy. In terms efficiency (speed), is initially slower, but outperforms within 30 minutes practice. Our results potentially a reasonable for general use, particularly exciting use mobile device interfaces.

Due to their limited number of units but outstanding ability control rather complex wave-propagation phenomena, acoustic coding metasurfaces (ACMs) as two-dimensional metamaterials show a stronger competitiveness in metamaterial applications. However, hindered by narrow-band modulation capability, the previously reported ACMs do not exhibit broadband applicability. To address frequency-based this paper we report (BACMs) whose are designed bottom-up topology optimization method. Subsequently,...
