ABSTRACT Background and objective: Paradoxical vocal fold motion dysfunction (PVFMD) is a disorder of the larynx characterized by adduction cords during respiratory cycle leading to symptoms extrathoracic airway obstruction. PVFMD mimics asthma patients with (PVFMD+) are often diagnosed incorrectly as refractory receive unnecessary treatment. This study determined prevalence in describedthe relationship between PVFMD. Methods: A descriptive 94 asthmatic 40 control subjects, all whom were...

To investigate perceptual, acoustic and aerodynamic voice parameters in obese individuals.Twenty 20 normal-weight volunteers underwent evaluation by laryngoscopy, analysis, measurement perceptual analysis (using the grade-roughness-breathiness-asthenia-strain ('GRBAS') scale Voice Handicap Index 10 scale). Data from both subject groups were compared. No difference was found between two (p > 0.05). Maximum phonation time group (mean ± standard deviation, 19.6 4.9 seconds) significantly shorter...
