We have reviewed the outcome of 134 hips in 96 children with Graf type-III or type-IV dysplasia hip on ultrasound examination. treated 28 affected 22 Craig splint, 43 30 Pavlik harness, and 26 16 von Rosen splint. A total 37 was not splinted. All were less than three months age at referral. Those splint had a significantly better appearance 12 to 20 weeks fewer radiological abnormalities those splinted harness. In group no required further treatment an abduction plaster operation compared...
The measurement of ovarian volume has been shown to be a useful indirect indicator the reserve in women reproductive age, diagnosis and management number disorders puberty adult function, is under investigation as screening tool for cancer. To date there no normative model throughout life. By searching published literature healthy females, using our own data from multiple sources (combined n=59,994) we have generated robustly validated first conception 82 years age. This shows that 69%...
Abstract DNA methylation (DNAm) plays a determining role in neural cell fate and provides molecular link between early-life stress neuropsychiatric disease. Preterm birth is profound environmental stressor that closely associated with alterations connectivity of systems long-term impairment. The aims this study were to examine the relationship preterm DNAm, investigate factors contribute variance DNAm. was collected from infants (birth<33 weeks gestation) healthy controls (birth>37...
Background/aims: Even in the absence of retinopathy prematurity (ROP), premature birth signals increased risk for abnormal refractive development. The present study examined relation between clinical factors and development among preterm infants without ROP. Methods: Cycloplegic refraction was measured at birth, term, 6, 12, 48 months corrected age a cohort 59 infants. Detailed perinatal history cranial ultrasound data were collected. 40 full term (plus or minus 2 weeks)...
In 3646 children with at least one confirmed urinary tract infection the prevalence of vesicoureteric reflux presentation was correlated progressive renal damage during follow up not less than two and to 16 years. Reflux demonstrated either or any subsequent time in almost half who suffered a risk factor for boys under 1 year. It an important over year girls age. The whom micturating cystourethrography (MCU) did reveal substantially greater those indirect isotope voiding study (IVS) show...
Objective : To assess the current physical status and developmental outcome of children born to mothers following renal transplantation. Methodology A cross‐sectional prevalence survey 48 34 women transplanted at a single centre from 1971 1992 was performed. Data on maternal disease, immunosuppression, pregnancy, delivery child development were collected using hospital records parental questionnaire. Children underwent examination, urinalysis urinary tract ultrasound examination (US)....
Abstract Accurate whole-brain segmentation, or brain extraction, of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is a critical first step in most neuroimage analysis pipelines. The majority extraction algorithms have been developed and evaluated for adult data their validity neonatal which presents age-specific challenges this task, has not established. We novel method multi-modal MR images, named ALFA (Accurate Learning with Few Atlases). uses new sparsity-based atlas selection strategy that requires...
Long term follow up of children with urinary tract infections, in whom imaging investigations were performed at presentation, has been used to identify features that distinguish those greatest risk progressive renal damage. No single investigation presentation was able predict subsequent deterioration but, by employing a combination investigations, it possible separate groups high or low probability In the group incidence damage 0.2% (95% confidence interval (CI) 0 1.3%). The both scarring...
We report an infant with intrauterine growth retardation and transient neonatal diabetes who has paternal uniparental disomy for chromosome 6. The was not dysmorphic had no congenital anomalies. To our knowledge, this is the third case of occurring in diabetes, thus confirming association.

Objective:
To determine whether an abdominal ultrasound scan performed by paediatric radiologists is effective in the diagnosis of injuries children.
Method:
A retrospective cohort study was undertaken all children who presented with blunt trauma to a teaching hospital (RHSC) over 5-year period between 1 January 2001 and 31 December 2005. Hospital notes radiology computer systems were interrogated data collected analysed.
Results:
Of 80 trauma, 56 (70%) had imaging...
The epidemiology and optimal management of injury to the paediatric scaphoid (carpal navicular) is unknown. The objective this study evaluate these parameters in Emergency Department a tertiary children's hospital.A retrospective 12-month period all children attending single Paediatric who underwent plain radiography bone. One hundred seventeen (aged 8-12 years inclusive) were included (0.4% attendances). On initial radiographs, 17 showed definite or suspected fractures. At follow-up, only 12...
Summary— The reports of routine pre‐operative imaging investigations performed on patients presenting with symptoms uncomplicated benign prostatic hypertrophy were compared management decisions and clinical outcome. In 175 prostatism no urological abnormality which altered was discovered plain films the abdomen pelvis ultrasound urinary tract routinely. Post‐micturition residual volume (PMRV), estimated by ultrasound, maximum urine flow rate (Q max) in 57 patients. PMRV showed negative...
Objective: Head injury is one of the commoner injuries presenting to emergency department (ED). Infants are hard assess clinically and emphasis has been placed on radiological examination. Skull radiographs, however, not a reliable indicator intracranial injury. As result this policy in ED was revised so that skull radiographs were only be performed those infants less than 1 year with visible evidence head or suspicious history for non-accidental Methods: Retrospective cohort...
