Synthesis of antibacterial coatings derived from epoxidized soybean oil and curcumin for the efficient inhibition bacteria proliferation.
Summary A quantitative model is proposed for the estimation of macro‐hardness using nanoindentation tests. It decreases effect errors related to non‐reproducibility test on calculations by taking into account indentation size and surface roughness. The most innovative feature this simultaneous statistical treatment all loading curves. curve mainly corrects in zero depth determination correlating their positions through use a relative reference. First, experimental curves are described...
A performing photoinitiating system based on paprika spice was developed (i) to efficiently initiate, according a green photoinduced process, the cationic polymerization of biosourced and renewable monomer, e.g., gallic acid, (ii) synthesize environmentally friendly antibacterial coatings in reduced time. decrease 100% adhered bacteria demonstrated upon visible light illumination without any remaining live bacteria.
We have used fluorescence microscopy, photobleaching recovery (FPR), and atomic force microscopy (AFM) to investigate the formation of tethered lipid bilayers on plane aluminum oxide or glass surfaces. The were assembled with help a two-step methodology recently proposed for microporous templates (Proux-Delrouyre et al. J. Am. Chem. Soc. 2001, 123, 8313). first step consists accumulation intact biotinylated vesicles (PC + DOPE) streptavidin sublayer itself immobilized substrate. second step,...
Synthesis of antibacterial coatings derived from glycerol and quercetin for the inhibition bacteria proliferation.
Measuring quantitative and accurate friction force at the nanoscale by means of atomic microscopy is not straightforward. Numerous lateral calibration methods have been proposed in last decades. The most popular one wedge method that requires a specific sample having areas present constant slope coefficient. In this paper, we propose to revisit using an original, cheap, easy-to-make standard, which consists V-shaped scratch made Berkovich nanoindenter tip on fused silica substrate. We show...
The effect of confinement onto the mechanical properties amorphous phase Polyethylene terephthalate (PET) and poly(lactic acid) (PLA) was investigated. These polymers have advantage being in bulk or semicrystalline state allowing physical investigation on confined configuration. Based small angle X-ray scattering (SAXS), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), dynamic analysis (DMA) experiments, micro-structural arrangement crystalline phase, rigid fraction, visco-elastic different samples...
Abstract A mechanical model based on a generalized Kelvin–Voigt has been developed to explain and fit the nanoindentation curves realized three amorphous polymers (PC, PMMA PS). This includes responses of quadratic elastic (spring), viscoelastic (two elements), plastic (slider) viscoplastic components (dashpot). It is able during loading, unloading hold time periods. With values parameters value contact area calculated with Oliver Pharr method, it possible calculate properties polymers. good...
Molecularly imprinted polymers (MIPs) are synthetic polymeric receptors, capable of specifically binding a target molecule, just like biological antibody. There has been recent trend to improve the properties these materials by using modern methods controlled radical polymerization (CRPs) for their synthesis. Despite recognized advantages associated with "living character", effect "controlled nature" still be clearly demonstrated. This is far from obvious as high amounts short cross-linkers...
A straightforward method for immobilizing in situ generated silver nanoparticles on the surface of a photoactivable isosorbide-derived monomer is developed with objective to design functional material having antibacterial properties. The photoinduced thiol-ene mechanism involved these syntheses described by electron spin resonance/spin trapping technique. resulting materials or without (Ag NPs) were used as films coatings glass substrate. synthesized was characterized X-ray photoelectron...
The influence of sliding velocity on the adhesion force in a nanometer-sized contact was investigated with novel atomic microscope experimental setup that allows measuring forces while probe is at continuous and constant velocities. For hydrophobic surfaces, (mainly van der Waals forces) remain constant, whereas for hydrophilic capillary decrease linearly logarithmic increase velocity. data are well explained by model based thermally activated growth process meniscus.
The relevance of three different techniques (Stylus Profiler (SP), Scanning White-Light Interferometry (SWLI) and Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM)) to characterise the topography aluminium hard steel surfaces, was investigated. Evolution roughness parameters (Ra Rt) analysed according evaluation length. Asymptotic Ra values showed good agreement between data measured by SP AFM. SWLI show important discrepancies with other instruments due their sensitivity surface morphologies. AFM is best...
Abstract: An original treatment method is proposed to accurately determine by nanoindentation, the macrohardness and indentation size effect (ISE). This applied stainless steel specimens having different rough surfaces. It uses load versus depth curves based on two main features. The first one concerns correction of zero point (i.e. equals 0) minimise scattering between experimental curves. latter are all described usual hardness equations shifted minimising distance from a leading curve...
Eosin-derived coatings exhibiting photodynamic bacterial inactivation and antibacterial properties.
Anthracene-, benzophenone-, and anthraquinone-based UV photoinitiators have been, respectively, covalently grafted on the [Mo6O19]2– polyoxometalate (POM) platform, affording highly colored charge transfer organo-imido Lindqvist complexes. It has been evidenced that photosystems combining N-methyldiethanolamine (MDEA) as electron donor these hybrid POMs promote free-radical photopolymerization of acrylate monomer derivatives under irradiation in visible range, while similar conditions, no...
Abstract Load versus displacement curves obtained from nanoindentation experiments on polymers are particularly difficult to analyze due their complex mechanical and especially time-dependent behavior. The indentation two amorphous (polycarbonate (PC) polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA)) show an increase in the depth during load hold time. A non-linear model shows that this phenomenon could be decomposed a first part viscoelastic response second assigned both viscoplastic response. If is not...
