Photocatalytic formation of glycosidic bonds employing stable and readily accessible O-glycosyl derivatives 2,2,6,6-tetramethylpiperidin-1-ol is presented that employs an iridium-based photocatalyst blue LEDs. The reaction proceeds at room temperature in the absence additives other than 4 Å molecular sieves. Stereoselectivities are modest but nevertheless dependent on anomeric configuration donor, suggesting a substantial degree concerted character.

Abstract The site‐selective functionalization of carbohydrates is an active area research. Reported here the surprising observation that sterically encumbered adamantyl group directed acylation at C2 position S ‐glycosides through dispersion interactions between C−H bonds and π system cationic acylated catalyst, which may have broad implications in many other chemical reactions. Because their stability, orthogonality, ease activation for glycosylation, streamlines oligosaccharide synthesis...

High-temperature superconducting (HTS) bulks can not only be self-stable when levitated above a permanent magnet (PM) but also used as quasi PM with higher magnetic energy product due to their flux pinning characteristics. Therefore, HTS have wide application potentials in maglev trains, bearings, flywheel storage, drug delivery, and high field magnets. In the external of common scenarios, no input current, so it is difficult achieve overall quench. However, local quenching bulk still...

The preparation of a series mannopyranosyl donors carrying 2-O-(2-oxoalkyl) ethers and their use in glycosylation reactions are described. formation cyclic products with the simple 2-O-phenacyl ether 2-O-(t-butoxycarbonylmethyl) establishes stereoelectronic feasibility participation such systems. high β-selectivities observed bis-trifluoromethyl phenacyl indicate that can be suppressed through introduction electron-withdrawing substituents. absence 2-O-(methoxycarbonylmethyl) exclude...

Heliotropin, a compound with important roles in the spice and fragrance industries broad application prospects, is mainly produced through chemical methods. Here, we established novel process for synthesis of heliotropin by Escherichia coli whole cells biotransformation isosafrole. Directed evolution high-throughput screening based on 2,4-dinitrophenylhydrazine were used to improve activity trans-anethole oxygenase toward isosafrole, mutant (TAO3G2) was obtained that had high ability oxidize...

Extrapolating from lessons learnt with previous low-molecular-weight β-(1→3)-glucan mimetics, we designed a series of minimal 2,4-dideoxy-thioether-linked carbacyclic mimetics and synthesized di-, tri-, tetramers in an enantiomerically pure form by iterative sequence based on simple building block readily available commercial (S)-(−)-3-cyclohexenecarboxylic acid. These substances were screened for their ability to inhibit anti-CR3-fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC) staining human neutrophils...

A general method has been developed for the formation of glycosyl chlorides and bromides from picolinic esters under mild neutral conditions. Benchtop stable are activated by a copper(II) halide species to afford corresponding products in high yields with traceless leaving group. Rare β accessible via this route through neighboring group participation. Additionally, labile protecting groups previously not easily can be prepared.

C-Glycosylation reactions of glycosyl picolinates with allyltrimethylsilane or silyl enol ethers were developed. Picolinate as a chelation-assisted leaving group could be activated by Cu(OTf)2 and avoided the use harsh Lewis acids. The glycosylations operated under mild neutral conditions gave corresponding C-glycosides in up to 95% yield moderate excellent stereoselectivities.

A streamlined iterative assembly of thio-oligosaccharides was developed by aqueous glycosylation. Facile syntheses various deoxythio sugars with the sulfur on different positions from commercially available starting materials were described. These featured efficient chemical methods including our recently reported BTM-catalyzed site-selective acylation. The resulting could then be used for Ca(OH)2 -promoted protecting group-free S-glycosylation in water at room temperature. glycosylation...
