Purpose: To compare outcomes of two different miniaturized percutaneous nephrolithotomy (PCNL) techniques: minimally invasive PCNL (MIP) with the vacuum cleaner effect and vacuum-assisted mini-PCNL (vmPCNL). Materials Methods: Data from 104 (66.7%) patients who underwent vmPCNL 52 (33.3%) MIP at a single tertiary referral academic center between January 2016 December 2019 were analyzed. Patient demographics peri- postoperative data recorded, propensity score matching was performed....

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE:
Cross-sectional imaging of the temporal bone is challenging because complexity and small dimensions anatomic structures. We evaluated role flat panel angiography in cross-sectional by comparing its image quality radiation dose with a 64-section multisection CT scanner.
MATERIALS METHODS:
retrospectively collected 29 images normal whole-head bones. Image was assessed 2 neuroradiologists, who rated visualization 30 structures 3-point ordinal scale. The...

Women with aesthetic prostheses must be included in the target population of mammography screening programmes. Breast implants are radiopaque and partially obscure breast tissue. This can avoided use Eklund technique, which causes an increased radiation exposure. In this study, augmented women undergoing a dedicated protocol within population-based programme were compared according to selected indicators standard population. Essential dosimetric parameters their time trend also assessed.

Antegrade sclerotherapy (Tauber) effectively treats varicocele. However, fluoroscopy exposes young males to ionizing radiation. We aimed evaluate radiation exposure and surgical outcomes after the Tauber procedure. retrospectively analysed data from 251 patients. Dose area product (DAP) time were recorded. The effective dose was calculated with PCXMC software. Descriptive statistics linear regression tested association between clinical predictors exposure. Median (IQR) age body mass index...

Purpose Placenta previa is a major cause of maternal morbidity and mortality, associated to high risk peripartum hemorrhage hysterectomy. We aimed verify if prophylactic intraoperative uterine artery embolization in patients with placenta at least one additional bleeding (major previa), can reduce hemorrhage, need for blood transfusions, hysterectomy morbidity.Materials methods enrolled 76 previa; specific multidisciplinary protocol was designed management, including ultrasound evaluation,...

To manage and analyse dosimetric data provided by computed tomography (CT) scanners from four Italian hospitals. A radiation dose index monitoring (RDIM) software was used to collect anonymised exams stored in a cloud server. Since hospitals use different names for the same procedure, digital imaging communications medicine (DICOM) tags more appropriate describe were selected associated study common (SCNs) radiology playbook according scan region of contrast media. Retrospective analysis...

To investigate associations between patient characteristics, intraprocedural complexity factors, and radiation exposure to patients during endovascular abdominal aortic aneurysm repair (EVAR).Elective standard EVAR procedures January 2015 December 2020 were retrospectively analyzed. Patient characteristics data (i.e., type of device, endograft configuration, additional procedures, contralateral gate cannulation time [CGCT]) collected. Dose area product (DAP) fluoroscopy considered as...

Abstract Background In the recent years, clinical progress and better medical assistance for pregnant women, together with introduction of new complex technologies, has improved survival preterm infants. However, this result requires frequent radiological investigations mostly represented by thoracic abdominal radiographs in incubators. This document was elaborated an expert panel Italian inter-society working group (Radiologists, Paediatricians, Medical Physicists) aim to assist healthcare...

Slot-scanning technology is nowadays a valid solution for the follow-up of chronic musculoskeletal disorders on children and adolescent patients, but there no commercial software designed simulating this X-ray beam geometry. PC Program Monte Carlo (PCXMC) widespread developed dose computation in projection radiography. In study, experimental measurements were performed to evaluate its applicability examinations with slit-beam device. Physical phantoms corresponding an adult 5-y-old child...
