In this study the toxicity of antimalarial drug chloroquine (CQ) on certain enzymological (GOT, GPT and LDH) histopathological alterations (Gill, liver kidney) a freshwater fish Cyprinus carpio was studied after acute (96 h) sublethal (35 days) exposure. The median lethal concentration CQ 31.62 mg/ml. During treatment (CQ at mg/ml) treated groups showed significant increase in GOT activities blood plasma; whereas LDH activity decreased when compare to control groups. To analyse effects...
Use of pesticides in agricultural fields has a series toxicological and environmental problems. Methyl parathion (MP), an organophosphorus (OP) insecticide is widely used pesticide highly toxic to non-target organisms. Fish been as indicator species for monitoring pollution the aquatic environment. Catla catla Indian major carp edible fish sensitive slight stress. Recently, biomarkers are determine internal external health status caused by chemicals. C. were exposed acute (0.09 ppm)...
We here describe Sitana attenboroughii sp. nov., a new species of fan-throated lizard the genus Cuvier, 1829 from coastal Kerala in southern India. The morphologically is closer to visiri Deepak, 2016 (in Deepak et al. 2016a), however, differs having higher numbers ventral scales and comparatively short but richly colored dewlap. Genetically shows affinity marudhamneydhal Khandekar, Varma Chaitanya, which it an uncorrected pairwise sequence divergence 2.2% for fragment mitochondrial...
Toxicity and effects of an antiepileptic drug, carbamazepine (CBZ) on transaminases like glutamate oxaloacetate transaminase (GOT) pyruvate (GPT); lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) activities in gill, liver muscle a freshwater fish, Cyprinus carpio were investigated. The median lethal concentration (LC50) CBZ to C. for 24 h was determined (59.70 mg l−l). 1/10th LC50 value taken as sublethal (5.97 Fish exposed both acute 35 days (at weekly intervals), respectively. During treatment, GOT activity...
In this study, the chronic toxicity effects of iron oxide (Fe2O3) nanoparticles (NPs) (500 mg l−l) on certain hematological, ionoregulatory and gill Na+/K+ ATPase activity an Indian major carp, Labeo rohita were estimated for a period 25 days under static bioassay. A significant increase in hemoglobin (Hb) content, red blood cell (RBC) count hematocrit (Ht) value was noticed throughout study when compared to control groups. contrast, mean cellular volume (MCV), (MCH) (except 5th day)...
Abstract Oxidative stress plays a significant role in the pathophysiology of numerous kidney diseases, generally mediated by reactive oxygen species (ROS). Arsenic (Ar) is known to exert its toxicity through generation ROS and inflammation. The current study investigates protective effects sulforaphane (SFN) against arsenic-induced renal damage via PI3K/Akt-mediated Nrf2 pathway signaling. Thirty-two male albino Wistar rats were randomly divided into four groups eight animals each,...
