Tetrastigma (Miq.) Planch. is one of the most species-rich genera economically and agronomically important grape family Vitaceae. It includes ca. 95 species widely distributed in tropics subtropics Asia Australia. Species exhibit great diversity both vegetative reproductive characters. Here we inferred a well-supported phylogeny based on ten chloroplast DNA regions with an expanded taxon sampling 72 two varieties. Our molecular results support six major clades within relationships among...
Abstract Causonis (Vitaceae) is widely distributed in the tropical, sub‐tropical and temperate regions from Asia to Australia. The genus was established by Rafinesque 1830 but included under Cayratia Gagnepain 1911. Generic status of restored 2013, circumscription its species remained poorly understood. Here, we sample 92 accessions reconstruct phylogenetic relationships within using four chloroplast loci ( atpB‐rbcL , trnC‐petN trnH‐psbA trnL‐F ) three nuclear AS1 At103 ITS). Both data...
Abstract Biodiversity exchanges across the Malesian region, linking distinct biotas of Asia and Australia, have long attracted curiosity biologists. Tetrastigma (Vitaceae) has a wide distribution in through Sunda archipelago to Australia provides good case elucidate floristic exchange between Australia. species fleshy fruits that are consumed by birds, representing lineage with predictable dispersal island chains. We herein estimate divergence times reconstruct biogeographic history...
Abstract Tetrastigma (Miq.) Planch. (Vitaceae) is a genus with ca. 100 species showing great morphological diversity. Previous molecular phylogenetic studies suggested that traditional classification systems are not consistent the phylogeny, and undergoing further systematic investigation. We traced evolutionary trends of 20 characters within robust framework. Our results revealed many show either multiple transitions or few state changes, however, some distinct variation. The two subgenera...
Abstract Recent integrative systematic studies of Vitaceae support the recognition a new genus Pseudocayratia J.Wen, L.M.Lu & Z.D.Chen. The consists five species from China and Japan. We herein describe following two species: speciosa J.Wen L.M.Lu, P. pengiana Hsu make three combinations: dichromocarpa (H.Lév.) Z.D.Chen, oligocarpa (H.Lév. Van.) yoshimurae (Makino) V.C.Dang. Phylogenetic analyses based on chloroplast loci strongly as sister to Tetrastigma . Morphologically, have stigmas...
Abstract The genus Cayratia Juss. in the traditional sense (i.e., s.l.) of grape family has been shown to be non‐monophyletic. Previous studies supported splitting s.l. into three genera, that is, s.s., Causonis Raf., and a new representing African clade. However, morphology clade not studied carefully its phylogenetic position within Vitaceae remains unclear. Our study integrates molecular, distributional, morphological data supports recognition Afrocayratia from continental Africa...
Phytochemical study on the aerial parts of
Using various chromatographic separations, six glycoside derivatives (1–6), including one new ent-labdane glucoside named cayratioside (1), were isolated from the methanol extract of Cayratia geniculata stems and leaves. Their structures elucidated by detailed analysis 1D, 2D NMR, HRESIQTOF mass spectra. The inhibitory effect 1–6 on LPS-induced NO production in RAW264.7 cells was also evaluated. Among compounds, 1 exhibited moderate activity with an IC50 value 59.65 ± 1.85 µM.
Abstract In the present study, six phenolic glycosides, including one new durianol F ( 1 ) and five known compounds, A 2 ), syringaresinol glucoside 3 4‐ O ‐ β ‐glucopyranosyl sinapic acid methyl ester 4 quercetin‐3‐glucopyranoside 5 quercetin‐3‐rhamnopyranoside 6 were isolated from a methanol extract of peels durian fruits Durio zibethinus ). Their chemical structures elucidated using NMR MS spectroscopic analyses comparision with previously reported values. addition, their cytotoxic effect...
Three new glucosides, ziberthinosides A–C (1–3), and six known compounds, cleomiscosins A–D (4–7), sporogen AO-2 (8) sapinofuranone A (9), were isolated from a methanol extract of Durio zibethinus fruit peels. Their chemical structures elucidated by analyses their 1 D/2D NMR HR-ESI-MS data as well comparison with the literature values. The absolute configuration was confirmed ECD calculation. Of isolates, compounds 8 9 cytotoxic toward all MCF7, HepG2 SK-LU-1 cell lines, IC50 values ranging...
Phytochemical research of Perilla frutescens aerial parts led to isolation 12 secondary metabolites, including one new 3-benzoxepin glucoside, perillafrutoside A (1), megastigmane glycoside, B (2), and 10 known compounds. Their chemical structures were identified based on 1D/2D NMR, HRESIMS, ECD spectroscopic analyses. The structure 2 was elucidated revision the previously reported stereoisomer, (6R,9R)-blumenyl α-L-rhamnopyranosyl-(1→6)-β-D-glucopyranoside. Evaluation their antimicrobial...
