Current theories of Kondo insulators employ the interaction conduction electrons with localized Kramers doublets originating from a tetragonal crystalline environment, yet all are cubic. Here we develop theory cubic topological involving Γ(8) spin quartets sea. The greatly increase potential for strong insulators, entirely eliminating weak phases diagram. We show that relevant behavior in can only reside at lower symmetry X or M points Brillouin zone, leading to three Dirac cones heavy...

Motivated by the observation of light surface states in SmB6, we examine effects Kondo breakdown topological insulators. We present both numerical and analytic results which show that decoupling localized moments at disturbs compensation between heavy electrons dopes Dirac cone. Dispersion these uncompensated is dominated intersite hopping, leads to much lighter quasiparticles. These are also highly durable against magnetism decreasing thickness sample.

To gain further insight into the properties of interacting topological insulators, we study a 1 dimensional model Kondo insulators which can be regarded as strongly limit Tamm-Shockley model. Treating in large $N$ expansion, find number competing ground-state solutions, including insulating and valence bond ground-states. One effects to emerge our treatment is reconstruction screening process near boundary material ("Kondo band bending"). Near for localization state, that conduction...

In this paper, we discuss two-dimensional holographic metals from a condensed matter physics perspective. We examine the spin structure of Green's function metal, demonstrating that excitations metal are ``chiral,'' lacking inversion symmetry conventional Fermi surface, with only one orientation for each point on surface aligned parallel to momentum. While presence Kramer's degeneracy across permits formation singlet superconductor, it also implies ferromagnetic fluctuations absent leading...
