We performed microwave spectroscopy of an InAs nanowire between superconducting contacts implementing a finite-length, multichannel Josephson weak link. Certain features in the spectra, such as splitting by spin-orbit interactions transition lines among Andreev states, have been already understood terms noninteracting models. However, we identify here additional transitions, which evidence presence Coulomb interactions. By combining experimental measurements and model calculations, reach...

We perform microwave spectroscopy of Andreev states in superconducting weak links tailored an InAs-Al (core-full shell) epitaxially grown nanowire. The spectra present distinctive features with bundles four lines crossing when the phase difference across link is 0 or π. interpret these as arising from zero-field spin-split states. A simple analytical model, which takes into account Rashba spin-orbit interaction a nanowire containing several transverse subbands, explains and their evolution...

Spectral properties of a quantum circuit are efficiently read out by monitoring the resonance frequency shift it induces in microwave resonator coupled to it. When two systems strongly detuned, theory attributes an effective capacitance or inductance that depends on state. At small detuning, arises from exchange virtual photons, as described Jaynes-Cummings model. Here we present bridging these limits and illustrate, with several examples, its necessity for general description circuits readout.

The dielectric loss of silicon nitride (${\mathrm{Si}}_{3}{\mathrm{N}}_{4}$) limits the performance microwave-frequency devices that rely on this material for sensing, signal processing, and quantum communication. Using superconducting resonant circuits, we measure cryogenic tangent either as-deposited or high-temperature annealed stoichiometric ${\mathrm{Si}}_{3}{\mathrm{N}}_{4}$ as a function drive strength temperature. internal behavior electrical resonators is largely consistent with...

The design and operation of future fusion devices relying on H-mode plasmas requires reliable modelling edge-localized modes (ELMs) for precise prediction divertor target conditions. An extensive experimental validation simple analytical predictions the time evolution plasma loads during ELMs has been carried out here in more than 70 JET-ITER-like wall experiments with a wide range Comparisons these diagnostic measurements ion flux density, power impact energy electron temperature are...

By coupling a superconducting weak link to microwave resonator, recent experiments probed the spectrum and achieved quantum manipulation of Andreev states in various systems. However, quantitative understanding response resonator changes occupancy levels, which are fermionic nature, is missing. Here, using Bogoliubov-de Gennes formalism describe general formulation we calculate shift frequency as function levels how transitions induced by phase or electric field drives. We apply this analyze...

We explore the effects of driving a cavity at large photon number in circuit-QED experiment where “matterlike” part corresponds to unique Andreev level superconducting weak link. The three many-body states link, corresponding occupation by 0, 1, or 2 quasiparticles, lead different frequency shifts. show how nonlinearity inherited from its coupling link affects state discrimination and calibration. Both require treating evolution driven system beyond dispersive limit. In addition, we observe...

Piezoelectric phononic crystal resonators (PCRs) are a promising platform for acoustic quantum processing, yet their performance is currently limited by coupling to an ensemble of saturable two-level system (TLS) defects within the resonator material. Motivated its excellent bulk mechanical properties and high crystallinity, we address this fabricating PCRs from new substrate: thin-film quartz.
