Monolayer $2\ensuremath{-}{2}^{\ensuremath{'}}$ bipyridine on Au(111) has been studied by scanning tunneling microscopy as a function of surface charge density. At positive charges, the planar molecules stand vertically and form polymeric chains in which they stack with repeat distance $\ensuremath{\sim}3.3$ \AA{}. The are randomly oriented at low but begin to align parallel density reaches $\ensuremath{\sim}13\ensuremath{\mu}\mathrm{C}/{\mathrm{cm}}^{2}$. transition is fully reversible...
The formation and structure of 2,2'-bipyridine (22BPY) 4,4'-bipyridine (44BPY) monolayers on Au(111) substrate have been studied as a function the potential. At high potentials, both molecules adsorb onto stand vertically with their nitrogen atoms facing Au(111). standing stack, like rolls coins, into polymer-like chains which pack closely in parallel to form ordered monolayers. Decreasing potential critical value, 22BPY become randomly oriented via reversible order−disorder phase...

Bromination of commercially available 5,6-dimethyl-1,10-phenanthroline with N-bromosuccinimide led to the formation 5,6-bis(bromomethyl)-1,10-phenanthroline, a new compound, in 33% isolated yield. Conversion brominated compound its corresponding o-quinodimethane intermediate was accomplished by reaction tetrahexylammonium iodide. Reaction this C60 refluxing toluene resulted final product, phenanthrolyl[60]fullerene, 1, 43% Spontaneous self-assembly 1,10-phenanthroline on Au(111) surface...
In this work, silver atoms were deposited by ion sputtering on the surface of diglycidyl ether bisphenol A (DGEBA) epoxy resin cured at 150 °C for 6 hours in air. The films DGEBA and its precursors characterized Raman spectroscopy to identify main functional groups their relationship with atoms. Silver thin 5, 10, 15 20 nm room temperature. Both initial film subsequent analyzed Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM) non-contact mode. also using X-ray diffraction (XRD) AFM results showed formation...
Thin films of pure and Nd doped Y2O3 were prepared following a new sol–gel route on glass substrate. Sets thin in different oxidation densification conditions the effect such morphology, crystallization, surface aspect thermoluminescence (TL) radioluminescence response are analysed. The results indicates that suitable for scintillating devices rather than solid state TL dosimeters.
In this communication we present a new sol–gel route to obtain high quality BaFe12O19 thin films. X-ray analysis confirmed the crystal structure with size of 32 nm. Atomic force microscopy images determined film thickness be around 250 nm and roughness factor less than 40 where grain averaged 150 SQUID magnetometer data shows magnetic behavior similar films grown by other techniques, namely, coercive field (Hc=4kOe), normalized remanence close 0.6 saturation 15 kOe Ms=80emu/cm3.
Recently, p-channel metal-oxide-semiconductor (pMOS) transistors were suggested as fit for the task of detecting and quantifying ionizing radiation dose. Linearity, small detection volume, fast readout, portability, low power consumption attenuation are some pMOS advantages over PIN diode thermoluminiscent dosimeters. A hand-held measurement system using a commercial off-the-shelf pMOSas sensor would have clear advantage due to lower cost incurred by standard technological process. In this...

The biological effects of chemical substitution DNA bases triggered several investigations their physicochemical properties. This paper studies the adsorption behavior a halogenated uracil, 5-fluorouracil (5FU), at electrochemical interface Au(111) and sulfuric acid solution. Upon modulation electric field across interface, four distinct phases could be inferred by means cyclic voltammetry (CV). At negative potentials relative to SCE electrode, limited threshold hydrogen evolution, no...
