The corrosion behavior of TiC particles reinforced Mg-Al alloy in 3.5% NaCl solution has been evaluated using electrochemical techniques. Tested alloys included an Mg-9Al (Mg AZ91E) with and without 56 wt. % particles. Electrochemical techniques potentiodynamic polarization curves, linear resistance, noise, impedance spectroscopy measurements. All showed that the composite exhibited a lower rate than base alloy. Evidence galvanic effects increased was found between matrix Additionally,...
The process of carbothermal reduction Al2O3 in a nitrogen flow at temperatures 1450 and 1600?C has been studied. It was established that the powder synthesized 1450?C is mixture AlN particles powders are mixtures AlN, AlON, Al2O3. Amorphous crystalline AlON films form on surface particles. Both contain unreacted residual carbon. In stage high-pressure sintering specimens temperature 1750?C under pressure 7 GPa for 110 s, decomposes into Residual graphite transforms phase, which decreases...
An investigation about the effect of boron contents and heat treatment on corrosion resistance a Ni-Ti alloy in simulated human body fluid environments has been carried out using electrochemical techniques. Tested alloys included 55 (wt %) Ni-45Ti with 250, 500 1000 ppm B without at 900°C during 4 h. Electrochemical techniques potentiodynamic polarization curves impedance spectroscopy. Addition either 200 or decreased rate, but addition thermal annealing increased it.
Titanium diffusion process was applied to three selected steels, namely series AISI 1045, 4140 and stainless steel 304 using the hot pressing technique for a possible biomaterial use. Chemical analyses indicate that Ti diffuses into matrix sample according time of exposure, obtaining several microns in coating width producing simultaneously TiO2 oxidized layer. Electrochemical evaluation linear polarization electrochemical noise as function time, performed these different samples under Hank...
The phase formation process in the zone of laser irradiation 60 wt.% Al2O3-40 TiO2 and Al2O3- 40 Y2O3 compacts has been investigated by XRD, electron microscopy, atomic force microscopy methods. In ceramic track is formed. Due to no uniformity heating powder mixture Al2O3-TiO2 consists a surface layer ?-Al2TiO5 bulk from ?- Al2TiO5. Ceramic formed during Al2O3-Y2O3 amorphous Y3Al5O12 with inclusions ?-Al2O3 domains consisting dendrites Y3Al5O12.
Electrochemical techniques for on-line monitoring were used to study 70Cu-30Ni alloy corrosion in lithium bromide solution under flow operating conditions an absorption heat pump. The cause of metallic on the studied is localized attack passive film surface by ions at lower temperatures, and dissolution protective higher temperatures conditions.Laboratory experiments performed using rotating disk electrode (RDE) dynamic different similar pump parameters. This was done understand behavior...
Porous ceramics (bricks) was obtained using red clay, milled fusible cullet, and biowaste in the temperature range 950-1000?C. The high content of water eliminates necessity introducing soft mud forming bricks. porosity, absorption capacity, mechanical properties prepared depend on cullet sintering temperature.
Abstract An impact experiment on a mixture of water and microcrystalline alpha-GeO2 powder was performed with single-stage gas gun. The recovered sample contained micrometer-scale crystals different sizes morphologies that correspond to 88% alpha-GeO2, 6.0% monoclinic phase (P21/c, space group No. 14), 4.9% orthorhombic (Pnnm, 58) 1.1% rutile-type phase. An attempt has been made to detect the stress corrosion cracking (SCC) initiation and propagation of a dual-phase steel in 3.5% sodium chloride (NaCl) solution at different pH values (3 7) by using electrochemical noise (EN) impedance spectroscopy (EIS) techniques during slow strain rate tests. When was immune SCC, EN readings consisted transients with high intensity frequency, which did not change throughout tests; Nyquist diagrams showed single depressed capacitive-like semicircle; Bode...
The stress corrosion cracking (SCC) susceptibility of a microalloyed steel under different heat treatments in 3.5% sodium chloride (NaCl) solution with pH values (3, 7, and 12) using the slow strain rate testing (SSRT) technique has been evaluated. Heat include as-received condition (with martensitic/perlitic microstructure), quenched from 750°C (producing dual-phase microstructure consisting martensite/ferrite), 950°C an almost pure martensitic microstructure). conditions were highly...
The potential and current oscillations during corrosion of NiCoAg alloy in Hank solution were studied. Detailed nonlinear fractal analyses used to characterize complex time series clearly showing that the irregularity these corresponds deterministic chaos rather than random noise. chaotic characterized by power spectral densities, phase space, Lyapunov exponents. Electrochemical impedance was also applied dimensions for corroded surface obtained, a mechanism proposed.
