An apnea score (AS) was developed as a potential screening tool for sleep apnea. This based on self-report questionnaire responses of 76 disorder center patients and 20 survey volunteers. Twenty volunteers 23 (group I) comprised the initial AS development group. Their were compared to polysomnographic indexes (AI) plus hypopnea (AHI). Stepwise multivariate discriminant analysis used test whether or not selected group I could be correctly classify respondents into (AI AHI > 5) nonapnea (AI,...

In Brief Study Design. The authors reviewed a series of nontraumatic spinal cord injuries associated with surfing lessons. Objectives. To characterize unique syndrome paraplegia/paraparesis to improve clinical recognition, treatment, and prevention. Summary Background Data. Surfer's myelopathy is previously unreported injury that affects inexperienced surfers. Nine patients paraparesis/paraplegia were evaluated treated after events. Methods. An office-based registry tracked surfer's between...

Examines the adoption and strategic use of advanced manufacturing technologies (AMTs) by small firms. Three major issues are explored: differences between exporting non‐exporting firms with regard to why they adopt AMT; how relationship adopting AMT global markets. Using multivariate analysis variance (MANOVA), multiple comparison tests, pair‐wise comparisons, regression, correlation, partial correlation analysis, authors found that: for different reasons; in ways; there is a significant positive

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE:
Surfing is an uncommon cause of acute nontraumatic myelopathy. This study describes the MR imaging characteristics and clinical correlates in 23 subjects with surfer9s
MATERIALS METHODS:
was a retrospective review cases myelopathy from 2003–2012. Spinal cord neurologic examinations use American Injury Association scale were reviewed. Logistic regression used to determine associations between characteristics, scale, improvement.
RESULTS:
All...

Secretion can be produced from the salt gland of duck by electrical stimulation nerves reaching and administration parasympathomimetic drugs; latency this response is similar to that secretory intravenous loading similarly inhibited atropine. The contains both acetyl‐ butyrylcholinesterase; former appears associated with nerve fibres which originate in cells occurring along gland's its ganglion. There no obvious difference cholinesterase content secreting resting glands. Denervation gland,...

Bacterial diseases, especially those of the lung caused by Gram-negative bacteria, inflict significant economic loss associated with mortality and morbidity in domestic animals. Toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4) has recently been recognized as a major for cellular interactions lipopolysaccharides derived from bacteria. However, there are no data on expression TLR4 various organs We performed immunohistochemistry immuno-gold electron microscopy to localize seven other normal pig, dog calf (n=2...

A natriuretic and diuretic response to whole blood infusion in the rat, exaggerated sustained by intravenous reinfusion of excreted urine, was shown be associated with increased glomerular filtration reduced tubular reabsorption. Cross-circulation animals so responding (donor rats) isovolemic recipients led a modest latter, not accounted for altered physical composition nor observed changes rate or arterial pressure. The recipient natriuresis unchanged when nephrectomized donors were used it...

Expansion of the plasma volume by infusions either or iso-oncotic albumin solution resulted almost uniformly in diuresis and natriuresis anaesthetized dogs. Although clearance para-aminohippurate (RPF) usually increased, changes creatinine (GFR) were neither large nor consistent direction, indicating that renal response depended on altered tubular reabsorption. The usual temporal dissociation between peak values for water sodium output during was interpreted as evidence operation two...

The operation of all business enterprises is guided by some overriding, decision-making philosophy. In today’s market a "customer orientation" philosophy has been widely adopted. This can be operationalized as the marketing concept. However, concept’s link to actual performance received little empirical verification. study compares 188 manufucturing firms grouped level customer service orientation. results mailed questionnaire show that reporting high outperform low on ten twelve measures...

Expansion of the blood volume with "artificial blood" infusion, previously shown to cause diuresis and natriuresis in anaesthetized dogs, failed produce this renal response chronic high-spinal dogs. This observation was considered best explained as result interruption nervous pathways essential a reflex mechanism. In other unilateral denervation did not significantly alter time course or magnitude diuresis, but reduced natriuresis. As there no qualitative difference between responses...

In this study we investigated developmental changes in the auditory P3 latency from childhood to adolescence. Event-related potentials evoked by improbable stimuli were recorded 35 normal children between ages of 5 and 13 years. Regression analyses showed significant age trends latency. Latencies decreased at a rapid rate (Cz: 20.34 msec/yr; Pz: 19.27 msec/yr) adolescence, suggesting an increased efficiency processing information as mature. This was linear or constant nature evidenced...

The hypothesis exists that afferent vagal fibers, arising in cardiac atrial stretch receptors, serve as the sensory limb of a reflex mechanism sensitive to variations blood volume and producing corresponding changes urine flow.
