Commercially pure aluminium is employed in several industrial applications. On some applications, the surface of this material needs to be functionalised. Laser texturing a powerful tool functionalise and alloy surfaces. However, corrosion resistance laser textured can modified, has rarely been investigated literature. Consequently, commercially saltwater was evaluated using electrochemical techniques: asymmetric noise, potentiodynamic polarisation curve impedance spectroscopy. Although...

Nanoparticle generation by laser ablation of a solid target in liquid environment is an easy, fast, and “green” method for large scale production nanomaterials with tailored properties. In this letter we report the synthesis CdTe nanoparticles femtosecond [387 nm, 180 fs, 1 kHz, pulse energy=6 μJ (fluence=1.7 J/cm2)] material. Nanoparticles diameters from ∼2 up to ∼25 nm were observed be formed colloidal solution. Their size distribution follows log-normal function statistical median...

The preparation of Carbon Fibre Reinforced Polymers (CFRP) surfaces for adhesive bonding has been widely reported.Such reports include laser texturing using both near-infrared (IR) lasers and ultraviolet (UV) lasers. In this report, we present, the first time, findings showing that surface treatment CFRP incoherent UV light, at 254 nm wavelength, can increase strength by 75 % compared to nontreated samples. It is also around 10 stronger than NIR laser-textured samples. However, combination...

Nanoparticles of the II–VI semiconductor CdSe were synthesized by laser ablation (387 nm, 180 fs, 1 kHz, pulse energy=4 μJ (fluence=1 J/cm2)) target material in methanol. The nanoparticles size distribution follows a log-normal function with statistical median diameter range ≈5–6 nm. Their crystalline structure is same as that bulk and are Se rich (Cd:Se percentage ratio ∼0.8:1). Strong, spectrally "clean" relatively narrow photoluminescence emission from produced was detected green (∼552 nm).

This paper presents the results of carbon nanoparticles (CNPs) production by infrared laser ablation a graphite or polycrystalline diamond target, submerged in one two solvents, water isopropanol. The targets were irradiated using SPI fibre with wavelength 1064 nm being operated at different average powers. After laser-assisted synthesis CNPs, resulting colloids, i.e particles liquid medium, examined analytical techniques dynamic light scattering, UV-Vis, Raman spectroscopy and fluorescence...

Abstract Stainless steel 316L is an austenitic alloy that widely used in varying industries due to its outstanding corrosion resistance, high strength, and ductility properties. However, the wear friction resistance properties are low. Laser surface texturing can improve of material via functionalisation surface. The laser efficiency texture quality defined by material’s parameters. roughness important property having effect on texturing. This paper reports a study influence stainless with...
