We studied the effect of Ga3+and Sc3+ on Yb:YAG emission at cryogenic temperatures three different mixed garnets namely Yb:YGAG, Yb:YSAG and Yb:YSGAG. The compositional tuning these was achieved by preparing ceramic pellets solid state reaction with concentration Ga3+, or Sc3+, both. incorporation in leads only to a limited spectral broadening. On other hand, either Ga3+ both results significant In latter case, this inhomogeneous broadening is attributed occupancy octahedral tetragonal sites...

Developing an effective method of quantifying defects in the bulk transparent ceramics is a challenging task that could facilitate their widespread use as substitute for single crystals. Conventionally, SEM analysis used to examine microstructure but it limited material surface. On other hand, optical transmittance assesses quality, does not provide information on size and concentration defects. In this study, we illustrate digital microscope non-destructive, precise, rapid residual porosity...

Yb:YAG ceramic solid-state laser gain media have been of growing interest for high-repetition rate and high-power lasers during the last few years. A great advantage technology compared with that single crystals is flexibility shaping methods allowing production near-net-shape components a well-defined internal structure. favorable dopant distribution can enhance efficiency by mitigating thermal effects. The presented work reports on transparent ceramics composed layers different Yb doping...

The influence of magnesium silicates, as sintering promoters, on the technological behaviour porcelain stoneware tiles has been investigated. Three different raw materials formulations were studied: a typical industrial body, containing sodium feldspar flux, and two alternative mixtures talc or chlorite source, in partial replacement feldspar. comparison properties fired products highlighted higher reactivity during bodies that seems to be connected with both larger amount lower viscosity...

The influence of the glass-ceramic addition on mechanical properties and microstructural characteristics porcelain stoneware tiles has been studied. Mechanical characterisation carried out industrial laboratory obtained by mixing systems to current bodies. Moreover, microstructure texture have studied bulk density, open close porosity phase composition determined. Industrial bodies contain very low (0.2-0.3 vol%) closed (1.6-4.1%), flexural strength ranging from 30 40 MPa, Young modulus 63...

We report a review on our recent developments in Yttebium and Neodymium doped laser ceramics, along two main research lines. The first is the design development of Yb:YAG ceramics with non uniform doping distribution, for management thermo-mechanical stresses mitigation ASE: layered structures have been produced by solid state reactive sintering, using different forming processes (spray drying cold press homogenized powders, tape cast slurry); samples characterized compared to FEM analysis....

The use of Yb:YAG ceramic gain media in solid state lasers has been growing interest for high repetition rate and power lasers. Probably the most important advantage production technology comparison with that single crystals is flexibility shaping methods allow near-net-shape components a welldefined internal structure. In case dopant distribution designed accordingly to pumping cooling geometry efficiency laser device can be enhanced by mitigating thermal lensing effects. presented work...
