The cicadas of the Indian subcontinent, like many other insects in region, have remained understudied since early part 20th Century, and await modern taxonomic, systematic phylogenetic treatment. This paper presents an updated catalogue (Hemiptera: Cicadidae) from India, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Myanmar, Nepal Sri Lanka, first over a century.

A new species of vine snake the genus Ahaetulla is described from peninsular India. The taxon a medium-sized arboreal snake, readily distinguished all other congeners by morphological and genetic differences. appears to be widely distributed in Eastern Ghats Central India with western-most distribution extending into eastern Rajasthan. However, it relatively rare, only three specimens being acquired over past nine...

The montane agamid lizard genus Oriocalotes is currently considered monotypic, represented by the species, O. paulus. systematic status of this taxon has remained questionable since its initial descriptions in mid-1800s. A detailed molecular and morphological study was carried out to assess validity genus, position within Asian subfamily, Draconinae. Freshly collected historical museum specimens from type locality paulus were examined morphologically, along with additional samples localities...

The cicadas (Hemiptera: Cicadidae) related to tribe Cicadini exhibit some of the most remarkable phenotypes in family, with many genera possessing striking colour patterns and unusual morphological features. This largely Asian group 13 tribes has proven challenging for cicada taxonomists, part because likely convergent evolution or losses these phenotypes. We present first focused molecular phylogeny this clade, including ~60 described genera. genetic dataset contains 839 ingroup-informative...

Eastern Himalaya and northeastern India are part of two global biodiversity hotspots, yet the critical butterfly-plant associations early stages most butterfly species in this region poorly recorded. We have reported larval host plants 78 species, some which rare endemic, providing specific information on spatial temporal details associated with these records. These records contribute region-specific Indian butterflies, may be useful basic ecological conservation studies future.
