Grape is the largest fruit crop worldwide and grape pomace an important solid waste generated from pressing fermentation processes in wine industries. Wine industry residues are rich bioactive compounds and, this case, utilization of by-products for alternative uses has been a focus research. The aim present project to primary benefits winemaking new products focusing on pomace, as well discover novel applications food industry, cosmetics, pharmaceutical, agricultural, livestock fields...

Kiwifruit is a significant fruit crop species for many countries around the world. Due to climate change, it undergoes heat stress during summer months in Mediterranean area. Heat stress, along with high irradiance, generally imposes reductions leaf photosynthetic activity and changes antioxidant status. In order ameliorate these impacts, three alleviating commercial products (the osmoprotectant glycine betaine—commercial product BlueStim SP, mixture of tocopherol phenolic...

SummaryOrganic farming and horticulture require the use of more environmentally-friendly chemicals to reduce potentially harmful side-effects on producers consumer health. Sulphur is one most important natural fungicides used in organic protect plants against attack by powdery mildew (Leveillula taurica). The elicitors induce resistance fungal diseases may provide an alternative conventional treatments. In this work, we compared effects wettable sulphur two (Chitoplant® Milsana®)...

BACKGROUND: Kiwifruit plants are extremely sensitive to hail storms. Black anti-hail nets the most frequently used in kiwifruit culture, protect both plant and current as well future production. OBJECTIVE: The present trial aimed assess if black net could also serve an amelioration agent against high temperature irradiance during summer months. METHODS: photosynthetic capacity, yield, fruit quality (carbohydrates, organic acids, phenolic compounds, antioxidant capacity) of “Hayward”...

A method for detection and quantitative determination of aflatoxins (AFs) produced by Aspergillus flavus in Pistachia vera seeds (pistachio) using Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, coupled with Diffuse Reflectance Infrared Transform Spectroscopy (FTIR-DRIFT) is examined this study. Greek medicinal aromatic plant extracts established bioactivity against A. AFs production were used as treatments on pistachio seeds. Classes analyzed discriminate analysis algorithm, distance values...

Olive fruit fly’s dispersion depends upon the olive bearing percentage inside grove. Previous efforts to simulate based on produced promising results. However effect of and fly in space were not modelled correctly some cases. In this work we improved model map data obtained better. Simulated compared with measured by computing three metric indexes. For case 0% simulated nearly identical data, while for 30% reproduction was quite promising.

There is a significant number of agricultural systems with rich and special biodiversity, characterized as high-nature-value farming (HNV) in the Ionian Islands region. These agro-ecosystems cover area this region are divided olive groves vineyards which, some cases, part protected areas (Natura 2000 SPA). solid but also large scattered trees or clusters, well vineyards, which largely identified high-quality wine producers.
