ABSTRACT Engaging the public in naturalist activities has been identified as a promising approach to enhancing conservation awareness and improving mental well‐being; however, empirical evidence supporting this relationship remains limited. This study aimed explore impact of training camp on participants' attitudes well‐being. The 9‐day camp, organized by Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden (XTBG), focused increasing knowledge, social connectedness, identity through combination indoor...
Abstract Aim Forest fragmentation is often accompanied by an increase in hunting intensity. Both factors are known drivers of species extirpations, but understanding their independent effects poor. Our goal was to partition the and on bird extirpations identify traits that make more vulnerable these two stressors. Location Menglun, Yunnan, SW China Methods We studied landscape within 10 km radius Menglun town, where forests have become highly fragmented monoculture rubber plantations....
Significance Both the role of host sanctions (differential resource allocation to more beneficial symbionts) in stabilizing mutualisms, and existence “cheaters” (species gaining fitness by not benefiting their hosts) destabilizing them are controversial. A detailed study an evolutionary transition from mutualism parasitism focusing on two functionally distinct Eupristina wasp species associated with fig, Ficus microcarpa Yunnan Province, China, documents both. Within comparative context many...
Male and female nectar robbers may show significantly different behaviour on host plants thus have impacts reproductive fitness of the plants. A 4-year study in natural populations Glechoma longituba has shown that male carpenter bees (Xylocopa sinensis) are responsible for most robbing from these flowers, while account little robbing, demonstrating distinct behavioural differentiation between visiting flowers. The smaller bee spends less time a single flower than larger bee, consequently,...
We conducted four bird biodiversity surveys in the Putao area of northern Myanmar from 2015 to 2017. Combined with anecdotal information collected between 2012 and 2015, we recorded 319 species, including two species (Arborophila mandellii Lanius sphenocercus) previously unrecorded Myanmar. Bulbuls (Pycnonotidae), babblers (Timaliidae), pigeons doves (Columbidae), pheasants partridges (Phasianidae) were most abundant groups birds recorded. Species richness below 1 500 m a. s. l. was higher...
