This paper proposes a real structured genetic algorithm (RSGA) to design class of infinite-impulse response (IIR) digital filters. The method combines the (RGA) with (SGA) obtain an optimal IIR filter by minimizing filter's order and absolute sum error both passband stopband. With proposed chromosome scheme, system structure numerical parametric variables can be simultaneously optimized. Numerical experiments show that our RSGA yields better than existing GA-based method.

We have carried out a detailed study of gap induced radiation loss effect in micro-ring resonator. Our data show that small-gap dominates the total ring as is less than 225 nm for TM mode.
We demonstrate a highly compact Silicon microring filter with radius of 1.75µm. The exhibits free spectral range over 50nm and propagation loss 0.034dB/per-turn at TE like mode 0.72dB/per-turn TM mode. wide FSR can accommodate the whole C band for WDM application.
