ABSTRACT The incidence of Vibrio cholerae non-O1, non-O139 strains from hospitalized patients with acute diarrhea constituted 27.4% ( n = 54) the total 197 V. isolated in Kolkata, India, 2003. Of strains, 135 were identified as O1 serotype Ogawa and 2 O139. In same time period, six background rough that possessed all known virulence factors identified. Serotype analysis placed 42 into 19 serogroups, while 12 remained O nontypeable (ONT); existing serotyping scheme involved antisera to 206...

Retrospective analysis led to the detection of two Vibrio cholerae variant O1 strains (VC51 and VC53), which were isolated in 1992 Kolkata from clinical cases, with identical traits 2004 Mozambique strains. The that caused a huge outbreak have been shown phenotypic both classical El Tor biotypes, thereby reported as variant. Our study demonstrated during background evidenced by polymyxin B (50 U ml(-1)) resistance, positivity Voges-Proskauer reactions sensitivity biotype-specific vibrio...

During 2003, Vibrio cholerae O1 Ogawa was the predominant serotype among diarrhoeal patients admitted to different hospitals in India. With exception of 3 strains from Kolkata, none 172 examined exhibited resistance tetracycline, but 45.7 % showed reduced susceptibility ciprofloxacin. Extensive molecular characterization using randomly amplified polymorphic DNA analysis, ribotyping and PFGE revealed that almost all within a serogroup were clonally related. Along with H pulsotype, newly...

ABSTRACT Background Diabetes and Hyperlipidemia are major risk factors for stroke across the world population. TCF7L2 , a key player of WNT signaling pathway shows genetic association with both metabolic disturbances. However, its role in pathogenesis (if any) is not well characterized. Objectives Thus, here we aim to (a) examine correlate dysregulation expression diabetes or hyperlipidemia-associated Ischemic Stroke, (b) identify variants gene (c) establish correlation between mRNA...
