Three highly pathogenic avian influenza (H5N8) viruses were detected in the migratory bird Podiceps nigricollis Northwest China June 2021. Phylogenetic analysis indicated that these H5N8 isolates belonged to clade 2.3.4.4b, which homologous strains isolated and South Korea. In this study, virus infection was using Oxford Nanopore Technologies sequencing technology caused pathological changes multiple organs.
