Here we describe methods for creating tissue-mimicking ultrasound phantoms based on patient anatomy using a soft material called gel wax. To recreate acoustically realistic tissue properties, two additives to wax were considered: paraffin increase acoustic attenuation, and solid glass spheres backscattering. The frequency dependence of attenuation was well described with power law over the measured range 3–10 MHz. With addition in concentrations 0 8 w/w%, varied from 0.72 2.91 dB cm−1 at 3...

Previous work has looked closely at the challenges of using patient-generated data to enable remote assessment and monitoring by healthcare professionals. In this paper, we examine family caregivers who act as proxies for patients may not have capacity capturing necessary data. We worked with occupational therapists develop an application safety patients' homes assistance caregivers. evaluated found two features unique communication between professionals: Caregivers want be able direct...

Background Pre-operative planning and templating is a crucial pre-requisite for total hip arthroplasty (THA). Recently, the use of digital radiography has allowed to be digitalised instead traditional methods involving radiograph transparencies. The primary aim this study was compare accuracy in correction leg length discrepancy (LLD) restoring femoral offset patients undergoing THA osteoarthritis with pre-operative (PDT) versus conventionalplanning without templating. Methods This...

Study Design: Retrospective single-center, single-surgeon cohort study.Purpose: Our goal was to compare the 2-year clinical and radiological results of artificial disc replacement (ADR) cage screw (CS) implants in patients with cervical degenerative disease (DDD).Overview Literature: Anterior discectomy fusion CS are an acceptable alternative traditional cageplate construct due perceived decreased complications dysphagia. However, may experience adjacent segment because increased motion...

Ever since the outbreak of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), there has been a noticeable change in atypical presentations several rheumatological diseases following COVID-19 infections. In this case report, we present SARS-CoV-2-induced axial and peripheral spondyloarthritis. This highlights possibility SARS-CoV-2 infection accelerating onset autoimmune such as Although uncommon, these cases warrant referral to rheumatologist for appropriate diagnosis management....

Complex intra-articular distal femur fractures (AO 3.3.C) present many challenges, especially with regard to patient preparation and approach. Traditionally, patients lie supine a bolster or triangular wedge placed below the knee allow flexion. This corrects hyperextension deformity of femoral fragment caused by gastrocsoleus complex. Although well established, minimally invasive plate osteosynthesis (MIPO) technique presents limitations, In this case report, we describe lateral approach...

Three-dimensional printing makes it possible to create patient-specific, complex anatomical geometries that can be used for training, teaching and surgical planning. The human placenta is a vital organ transports nutrients from the mothers' uterine circulation fetus via vasculature. Complications of fetal vasculature are increasingly being imaged with ultrasound treated before birth using invasive therapy. There need training phantoms such as placental anastomoses occur in monochorionic twin...
