Disease in Pacific white shrimp Litopenaeus vannamei caused by the infectious myonecrosis virus (IMNV) causes significant socioeconomic impacts infection-prone aquaculture regions. The use of synthetic dsRNA to activate an RNA interference (RNAi) response is being explored as a means disease prophylaxis farmed shrimp. Here, survival was tracked L. injected with long dsRNAs targeted IMNV open reading frame (ORF) 1a, ORF1b, and ORF2 genome regions prior injection challenge IMNV, real-time...

This study investigated Perkinsus spp. infecting Crassostrea rhizophorae from the Jaguaribe River estuary, Ceará, Brazil. Fragments of gills and rectum oysters (n=150) were incubated in Ray's fluid thioglycollate medium (RFTM). Genus Perkinsus-specific PerkITS85/750 PCR assays performed their amplicons sequenced by Sanger method. The RFTM confirmed sequencing amplified fragments rDNA internal transcribed spacers (ITS) chesapeaki. Neighbor-Joining analyzes place P. chesapeaki identified this...

Bacillus cereus is a gram positive bacterium with sporulation capacity. Here, we report the complete genome sequence of two native B. strains (#25 and #29) isolated from intestinal tract crab Ucides sp. Pacoti River in State Ceará, Brazil. The findings this study might increase molecular information for strains. data can be used comparative analyses, origin distribution, as well support genetic engineering.

This work investigated the occurrence of Perkinsus sp. in clam Anomalocardia brasiliana, oyster Crassostrea and mussel Mytella falcata from Jaguaribe River estuary, northeastern Brazil. The collection (N = 300), oysters 300) mussels were carried out estuary River, Ceará, March April (rainy season) October (dry 2017. mollusks measured their major axis, open, had tissues submitted to tissue incubation techniques Ray’s fluid thioglycollate medium (RFTM), histology, real-time polymerase chain...

The cultivation of marine shrimp is one the fastest growing activities in world. However, emergence diseases has resulted a decrease production and losses for sector. Probiotics emerged as an option to use antibiotics control these pathogens. efficiency applying this technology depends on characteristics bacterial agents their bioavailability intestine. objective evaluate viability bacteria isolated from digestive tract healthy crustaceans probiotic Litopenaeus vannamei. A new species of marine macroalgae, Botryocladia franciscana sp. nov. (Rhodophyta, Rhodymeniaceae) is described for the south-west Atlantic Ocean. B. was collected from protected rocky crevices at Coqueiro Beach, Piaui, Brazil. Molecular characterization based on two plastidial genes, V domain 23S rRNA gene (UPA, universal plastid amplicon), and large subunit ribulose-1, 5-bisphosphate carboxylase oxygenase (rbcL), mitochondrial cytochrome oxidase I (cox1). Phylogenetic trees rbcL sequences...

This work aimed to perform the genetic manipulation of native B. cereus #25 strain and evaluate colonization in intestinal tract Litopenaeus vannamei. The expression GFPmut1, absence amylase activity, growth spectinomycin plates confirmed transformation (BC25GM). In shrimp bioassay, its addiction feed showed non-difference for water quality, performance, toxic effects L. vannamei (survival 100%). presence cells expressing GFPmut1 midgut animals was observed, suggesting that genetically...

Viruses are the pathologies that cause greater impact in shrimp farming and consequential biggest economic damages  registered sector. Despite Infectious hypodermal hematopoietic necrosis virus (IHHNV) is considered a pathogen of low  impact  Litopenaeus vannamei species, it can bring some negative implications for industry, as reduction  growth rates productivity. An experiment carried through Center Aquatic Organims Disease Diagnosis (CEDECAM,  Labomar, UFC) included PCR detection IHHNV...
