Nearly equiatomic AlCoCrFeNi alloy samples were prepared by induction melting and mechanical alloying (MA) combined with spark plasma sintering (SPS). The cast sample showed a dendritic microstructure composed of spinodally decomposed nanometric constituents the B2 BCC phases. sintered exhibited an ultrafine-grained phase FCC solid solution Cr23C6 carbides. MA+SPS was strengthened compressive stress-strain test up to yield strength 2029 ± 5 MPa, resulting significantly higher compared 1366...
To increase the mechanical and improve operational properties of AlSi25Cu4Cr AlSi25Cu5Cr alloys, combinations alloying elements Ni, Co Mo were used. The alloy was additionally alloyed with both Ni Mo, in different concentrations. dental alloys "wiron light" "wironit" used to introduce Co, as well additional amounts Cr into composition base compositions. thermal analysis recorded a decrease liquidus solidus temperatures narrowing their crystallization temperature range result added elements....
Hot working tool steel (AISI H13) is one of the most common die materials used in casting industries. A suffers from damage due to friction and wear during its lifetime. Therefore, various methods have been developed for repair save costs manufacture a new one. great benefit laser additive manufacturing (cladding) 3D high production rate with minimal influence thermal stresses comparison conventional arc methods. Residual are important factors that performance product, especially fatigue...
Railway wheels are usually attached to axles by press-fitting; therefore, the mechanical processes taking place during operation can result in failure, with fatal consequences for axle seats. This manuscript describes effect of laser hardening on residual stress state, microstructural parameters (lattice defects—dislocations, crystallites, microstrains, etc.), and properties laser-hardened EA1N steel railway under fatigue life conditions. Differences were found between ground, single-track,...
Titanium and aluminum targets have been reactively sputtered in Ar +O2 or +N2 gas mixtures order to systematically investigate the effect of reduced hysteresis reactive high power impulse magnetron sputtering (HiPIMS) as compared other techniques utilizing low discharge target density (e.g., direct current pulsed mid-frequency sputtering) operated at same average power. We found that negative slope flow rate gettered by material a function partial pressure is clearly lower case HiPIMS. This...
This paper reports on an investigation treating a hard-milled surface as undergoing severe plastic deformation at elevated temperatures. exhibits remarkable magnetic anisotropy (expressed in term of Barkhausen noise). also shows that noise emission is function tool wear and the corresponding microstructure transformations initiated tool/machined interface. The discusses specific character bursts unusually high magnitude pulses, especially low degree wear. main causes can be seen structures...
This study deals with two different aspects of the high-strength low-alloyed 1100 MC steel. The first is associated remarkable heterogeneity (linked surface decarburization) in state produced during sheet rolling respect to width. variable thickness layer exhibits a microstructure from that deeper bulk. Variation thermally softened near-surface region strongly affects Barkhausen noise as well. technique can be considered reliable tool for monitoring aforementioned heterogeneity. It also...
The CoCrFeNiMnX (X = 5, 20, and 35 at.%) alloys, reinforced with 5 at.% SiC powder, were prepared by mechanical alloying spark plasma sintering. This preparation method resulted in microstructural refinement of the FCC solid solution grains, while addition reacted residual oxygen to form homogeneously distributed ultrafine SiO2 particles. Additionally, alloys contained Cr7C3 carbides, which significantly larger than particles enriched alloy's elements, including Mn. Among tested materials,...
This paper reports about the non-destructive evaluation of surfaces after severe shot peening via Barkhausen noise technique. Residuals stresses and corresponding Almen intensity, as well microstructure alterations, are correlated with signal its extracted features. It was found that residual exhibit a valuable anisotropy. For this reason, relationship between stress state is more complicated. On other hand, near-the-surface layer exhibits remarkable deformation induced softening, expressed...
In this contribution, the behavior of three types steel after rolling was investigated. Ferritic and austenitic steels or phases have different mechanical thermal properties. Due to their mutual influence during plastic deformation, it is possible suppose differences between preferred orientations austenite ferrite in duplex single-phase ferritic steels. For reason, rolled were compared with steel. The 0–50% reductions plates selected. Mainly, strength type orientation relation reduction...
Pipeline transport uses millions of kilometers pipes worldwide to liquid or gas over long distances the point consumption. High demands are placed, especially on hazardous substances under high pressure (gas, oil, etc.). Mostly seamless steel various diameters used, but their production is expensive. The use laser-welded could significantly reduce cost building new pipelines. However, sufficient mechanical properties need be ensured for welded meet stringent requirements. Therefore, 10 mm...
The influence of critical volume on fatigue strength is assessed based experiments six specimen types (both unnotched and notched) manufactured from 42CrMo4+QT steel. Three size effect models are evaluated. To deal with them, additional coinciding influencing factors, such as surface roughness, had to be analyzed a data set comprised both notched specimens.
