Background: Atrial fibrillation (AF) and ischemic stroke (IS) are intricately linked to chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Patients who suffer from both COPD AF demonstrate a 2.85-fold greater risk of IS. However, the long-term remains insufficiently explored. Methods: This study utilized data Taiwanese National Health Insurance dataset spanning 2000 2015. were newly diagnosed with COPD, identified using International Classification Disease, Ninth Revision, Clinical Modification...
Cold stress-elicited hemodynamic perturbations (CEHP) its underlying mechanisms still not clear. We examined the difference of two effector arms sympathetic outflows, sympathoadrenal system, and postganglionic neurons, their role in CEHP genesis by using sympatholytic agents, fusaric acid (FA, dopamine-β-hydroxylase inhibitor) guanethidine (GUA, norepinephrine-depleting drug). Adult male Sprague-Dawley rats were divided into three groups ( n = 6, each), an intraperitoneal injection control...
