Neural tube defects (NTDs) are a heterogeneous group of common severe congenital anomalies which affect 1–2 infants per 1000 births. Most genetic and/or environmental factors that contribute to the pathogenesis human NTDs unknown. Recently, however, pathogenic mutations VANGL1 and VANGL2 genes have been associated with some cases NTDs. Vangl encode proteins planar cell polarity (PCP) pathway regulates behavior during early stages neural formation. Homozygous disruption PCP in mice results...

Hemangioblastoma is a benign and highly vascular tumor. Complete surgical resection of tumor such as hemangioblastoma may be challenging due to excessive bleeding. Preoperative embolization these lesions decrease the intraoperative blood loss facilitate excision. We report three cases cerebellar hemangioblastomas that were embolized using Onyx.

Self-expanding stents are increasingly used for the treatment of complex intracranial aneurysms. The purpose this study was to evaluate usefulness and safety a self-expanding nitinol stent (Enterprise) in wide-necked aneurysms. This retrospective 39 patients with 40 aneurysms who were enrolled single-center registry treated Enterprise between June 2009 December 2011. Thirty asymptomatic, four had cerebrovascular accident sequelae, five suffered subarachnoid hemorrhage. One aneurysm reopened...

Full-thickness nasal tip reconstruction is a challenging process that requires provision of ample skin and soft tissue, intricate cartilage structure maintains its architecture in the long term. In this report, we describe full-thickness ala defect using posterior auricular artery perforator based chondrocutaneous free flap. The flap consisted two lay ers covering conchal cartilage, was on perforating branch artery. A superficial vein secured at margin. donor anastomosed to lateral connected...

Abstract Background Reconstruction of perineal defect is challenging. The goal reconstruction to maintain normal function with good esthetic outcomes. Coverage the often difficult one loco‐regional flap when size very extensive. In this article, clinical applications propeller posteromedial thigh perforator (PMTP) for extensive defects were described. Patients and Methods Eight patients underwent PMTP flaps from March 2013 December 2018. average age was 65 years (range: 52–80 years). causes...

Reconstruction of submental defects is a challenge that needs to be approached carefully, since many important anatomical structures are located in this small space. Both aesthetic and functional outcomes should considered during reconstruction. In report, we describe case where superficial branch the transverse cervical artery (STCA) perforator propeller flap was applied for coverage area. An 85-year-old woman presented with 3-cm ovoid mass on her We covered large defect STCA rotational...

Abstract Rationale: Tubular apocrine adenoma (TAA) is a very rare benign neoplasm of the gland. The typical anatomical locations are mostly hair-bearing areas, where normal glands abundant. Patient concerns: We report case 40-year-old patient with tubular on non-hair-bearing area. Diagnoses: Ultrasonography showed 0.4-cm-sized hypoechoic nodule in subcutaneous plane left palm at fourth carpometacarpal joint level. Interventions: Surgical resection was performed and histopathological...

Mucormycosis is a fungal infection caused by the Zygomycetes class and genus of Mucorales, which usually reside in soil or plants. While daily exposure common, has only been reported immunocompromised patients. Because route spores via air, human mucormycosis occurs form pulmonary rhinocerebral infections. Primary cutaneous rare entity, to have rapid progression high mortality. An 83-year-old male who had finished his sixth cycle chemotherapy for small cell lung cancer, presented with...

Pedicle coverage during free flap reconstruction of the digit commonly presents complicated issues. As finger is a cylindrical unit with small volume, it difficult to secure ample soft tissue for relaxed pedicle. We have applied full-thickness skin grafts (FTSGs) loosely cover pedicle fingertip and report preliminary results. Seven patients who received toe pulp FTSG were analyzed. Intraoperative parameters collected defect, graft area size donor site. Patients observed postoperatively up 2...
