The need for efficient, lightweight, flexible, stable and eco-friendly portable electric power delivery has placed research on supercapacitor electrode materials at the forefront of endeavors to provide future energy storage. Graphene-based composites have been shown be promising toward this goal. In review, we describe recent progress in development by covalent functionalization graphene. Covalent graphene derivatives are an emerging potentially large class very efficient materials, whose...

Abstract Graphene derivatives are promising candidates as electrode materials in supercapacitor cells, therefore, functionalization strategies pursued to improve their performance. A scalable approach is reported for preparing a covalently and homogenously functionalized graphene with iron tetraaminophthalocyanine (FePc‐NH 2 ) high degree of functionalization. This achieved by exploiting fluorographene's reactivity the diethyl bromomalonate, producing graphene‐dicarboxylic acid after...

Owing to its high surface area and excellent conductivity, graphene is considered an efficient electrode material for supercapacitors. However, restacking in electrolytes hampers broader utilization this field. Covalent functionalization a promising strategy providing more materials. The chemistry of fluorographene particularly attractive as it allows scalable chemical production useful derivatives. Nevertheless, the influence composition on capacitance derivatives largely unexplored field...

Abstract Well‐defined, stoichiometric derivatives of graphene afford many opportunities in fine‐tuning properties and hence, extend the application potential this material. Here, we present electrochemical cyanographene (G−CN), acid (G−COOH) order to understand role covalently attached functional groups on sheet sensing for detection biomarkers. G−CN shows better performance negatively charged analytes ascorbic uric acids when compared G−COOH. The less‐favourable G−COOH is explained by...

Abstract Supercapacitors are a promising energy storage technology owing to their unparalleled power and lifetime. However, meet the continuously rising demands of storage, they must be equipped with higher densities. For this purpose, seamless integration metal oxides on carbon matrices, such as iron oxides/oxyhydroxides, has been pursued through hydrothermal, atomic layer electro‐deposition methods directly current collectors. Nevertheless, present limited compatibility commercial...

Electrolysis of ultrapure water in a two-electrode cell with silver anode and conductive substrate (Si wafer) as cathode leads to the formation nanostructured layers deposited on cathode. In process, is electrochemically dissolved cations, which react (or OH• radicals derived from electrolysis) forming oxide nanoparticles, fill interelectrode space by electrophoretic movement, diffusion convection induced temperature effects electrolysis. During process nanoparticles are partially...

A strategy toward a new class of graphene-based electrodes for supercapacitors is presented by Radek Zbořil, Michal Otyepka and co-workers in article number 1801111. Fluorographene chemistry leads to high-yield covalent installation carboxyl groups. Partial conjugation tetra-amino-iron-phthalocyanine, yields zwitterionic architecture, which proved crucial boosting the capacitance energy density material safe Na2SO4 aqueous electrolyte.

Cyanoacrylate adhesives (“superglues”) are mainly used in households. They undergo a rapid anionic polymerisation after application and form hard solid mass. We report case of 4-year-old girl who applied random cyanoacrylate glue to her nose. The was successfully removed under general anaesthesia by gentle dissection using Freer raspatory without causing any damage the nasal mucosa. To best our knowledge, only 3 cases intranasal instillation have been published literature so far. study...
