Abstract Records of fluctuations the East Antarctic Ice Sheet (EAIS) are best preserved in proximal marine sediments. The examined section is a part drillcore at Site U1359 IODP (Integrated Oceanic Drilling Program) 318 located eastern levee Jussieau submarine channel off coast Wilkes Land. Drillcore from 200 m below seafloor (mbsf) to 600 mbsf represents samples Mid-Miocene Late Miocene. Heavy media separation, characterization heavy minerals and quantification their population were carried...
This paper analyzes usage data from Hunter Library's digital collections using Google Analytics for a period of twenty-seven months October 2013 through December 2015. The authors consider this analysis to be important identifying that receive the largest number visits. We argue evaluation is in terms better informing decisions building will serve user needs. also study benefits harvesting sites such as DPLA and contribute overall literature on its use by libraries.
Abstract Site U1359 is located on the eastern levée of Jussieau submarine channel Wilkes Land margin, East Antarctica. The upper approximately 60 m sediment core records more than 2.5 Ma depositional history. Present work focuses inferring provenance from heavy mineral fraction Pleistocene sediments. Clay and non-clay fractions were characterized using X-ray diffraction micro-beam techniques. Metamorphic minerals including orthopyroxene, high-Ca garnet high-Ti biotite indicate a source in...
Prior to 2014, finding aids from Hunter Library’s Special Collections did not have a publicly accessible online presence and resided as Microsoft Word documents on an internal library server. In Library began transferring these ArchivesSpace, open source archives information management application. ArchivesSpace allowed librarians publish export EAD the web. This article discusses project interdepartmental collaboration among Collections, Cataloging, Digital Projects. The authors consider...
Hunter Library at Western Carolina University is a midsized academic institution managing 10 large e-book packages and about 80,000 individual titles. Managing e-books involves working with multiple vendors staff from different areas of technical services. This paper examines issues in workflows; particular, we will share the results project to document our workflows utilize an existing technology, Microsoft SharePoint, better manage this workflow information communication among involved...
Abstract Unusual mafic rock fragments deposited in Plio-Pleistocene-aged marine sediments were recorded at Integrated Ocean Drilling Program (IODP) Site U1359, Wilkes Land, East Antarctica. These identified from sediment layers between c. 3 and 1.2 Ma, indicating a sustained supply during this time interval. Clinopyroxenes these basalts are Al–Ti diopside–hedenbergite, uncommon terrestrial magmatic rocks. A single strong peak the Raman spectra of phosphate-bearing mineral 963 cm -1 supports...

AbstractIn 2020, the Program for Cooperative Cataloging (PCC) Task Group on Identity Management in NACO sponsored a 14-month PCC Wikidata Pilot, complete with learning objectives, participants to experiment Wikidata, an open linked data platform. UCLA Library joined Pilot create and edit items related Library's collections entities. With Pilot's conclusion, team reflected lessons learned. By assessing experience against authors hope contribute on-the-ground insights that may be relevant...
