To assess the efficacy of uterine artery embolization (UAE) for management primary postpartum hemorrhage (PPH) and to determine factors associated with clinical outcomes especially in relation ovarian artery.A retrospective analysis 33 patients who underwent UAE PPH was performed. Clinical data were used regarding maternal characteristics, cause bleeding, mode delivery, bleeding onset after risk PPH, presence coagulopathy, details procedure, types flow. We defined two flow by initial...
This case report highlights the rare occurrence of Wernicke encephalopathy caused by malnutrition in a depressed patient with atypical imaging findings. A 60-year-old female depression developed disturbance consciousness owing to encephalopathy. Magnetic resonance showed abnormal signals thalamus and mammillary bodies around third ventricle, cerebral aqueduct, fourth ventricle. Abnormal were also present cortex central sulcus, an intracranial hemorrhage from was observed. Therefore,...
During magnetic resonance imaging, thermal burns are a potential cause of injury. We experienced rare case imaging burn injury caused by jogging pants. The list materials the pants did not indicate any metal. However, light, thin metal fibers were used. Changing to suitable imaging-compatible clothing is important before undergoing imaging. To minimize risk burns, it necessary increase staff awareness and communicate comply with pretreatment safety checks.
The aim of this study is to evaluate the clinical efficacy and safety transcatheter arterial embolization (TAE) with N-butyl cyanoacrylate (NBCA) for treatment esophageal bleeding in cancer patients. Between November 2008 December 2014, five patients underwent TAE NBCA bleeding. We retrospectively evaluated technical success, recurrent bleeding, procedure-related complications. All had from artery were shock at beginning TAE. Four a coagulopathy time TAE; however, could successfully arrest...
A 77-year-old man who had undergone mitral valve replacement 5 years previously presented with an intrapericardial mass. Computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging showed that the mass lesion contained hematoma components. Positron-emission (PET) 2-[18 F] fluoro-2-deoxy-d-glucose (FDG) revealed uptake in peripheral rim of These findings suggested presence associated a malignant lesion. Surgical resection was performed, histological diagnosis chronic expanding without neoplastic...
We evaluated the risk factors for massive bleeding based on angiographic findings in patients with placenta previa and accreta who underwent balloon occlusion of internal iliac artery (BOIA) during cesarean section. We performed a retrospective analysis using clinical records 42 BOIA section between 2006 2017 Gunma university hospital. reviewed incidence collateral arteries to uterus initial aortography. visualization ovarian arising directly from abdominal aorta, round ligament external...
Real-time virtual sonography (RVS) is a diagnostic imaging support system that can synchronize with ultrasound images in conjunction computed tomography or magnetic resonance using navigation system. RVS has been applied clinical practice to perform such procedures as radiofrequency ablation and biopsy; however, the application of for percutaneous transhepatic biliary drainage (PTBD) rare.Between 2007 2012, RVS-assisted PTBD was performed 30 patients (19 males 11 females; age range, 41 89...
Abstract With the increasing use of postmortem computed tomography (PMCT) in medicolegal autopsies, three‐dimensional (3D) models injured areas can now be generated from multislice images. However, since PMCT has low sensitivity for detecting injuries solid organs absence contrast administration, it been difficult to demonstrate tracks stab wounds leading organ injury using 3D reconstruction. Here, we report one homicide case with two wounds. On skin surface, were located on neck and...
A 40-year-old mentally retarded Japanese man was admitted at rehabilitation facility for handicapped persons and found dead in his bed. His neonatal period complicated by seizures, he had a medical history of schizophrenia. postmortem computed tomography scan suggested an intestinal obstruction, but the cause unknown. To clarify death, medicolegal autopsy carried out. The gastrointestinal tract to contain copious amounts cloth pieces. diagnosis obstruction secondary pica clothes made....
Three-dimensional (3D) reconstruction images using postmortem computed tomography (PMCT) are increasingly used to convey complex information non-medical professionals, such as police and jurors. This case report demonstrates the effective use of 3D by integrating pre-autopsy, intra-autopsy, knife CT data achieve precise visualization wound path associated injuries. The involved a man in his 40s who was stabbed multiple times pronounced dead approximately two hours after receiving emergency...
