Anger is often primarily portrayed as a negative emotion that motivates antagonistic, aggressive, punitive, or hostile behavior. We propose this portrayal too one-sided. A review of the literature on behavioral consequences anger reveals evidence for positive and even prosocial emotion. outline more inclusive view its role in upholding cooperative moral behavior, suggest possible equity concerns. also new predictions lines research derived from our perspective.

This study demonstrates that even objects generating acute fear through shock conditioning can be attentionally suppressed. Participants searched for shapes while a color singleton distractor was presented. In preconditioning phase, participants learned to suppress frequently appearing in specific location. Following conditioning, suppression remained place those distractors were now associated with receiving an electric shock. finding provides evidence people learn stimuli they fear. The...

Anger has traditionally been associated with aggression and antagonistic behavior. A series of studies revealed that experiences third-party anger (anger experienced when observing harm is done to someone) can also lead prosocial More specifically, three studies, hypothetical scenarios as well a behavioral study, promote compensation the victim. The results showed preference for such behaviors over behaviors. We conclude stemming from anger, whether or prosocial, are reactions inequity,...

In the current comment, I discuss what is unique about hate in relation to anger and feelings of revenge. It seems that can be distinguished from related emotions revenge by a difference focus: Anger focuses on changing/restoring unjust situation caused another person, focus restoring self, hatred eliminating hated person/ group. Though grounded existing literature, future research needed empirically confirm characteristics these three emotions.

Isolates of Fusarium oxysporum f.sp. gladioli were collected from widely different geographic areas. These isolates characterized by pathogenicity to two differential gladiolus cultivars, vegetative compatibility, and total genomic DNA restriction fragment length polymorphisms (RFLPs). RFLPs used estimate the genetic divergence relationship among F. oxysporum. detected Southern blot hybridization with a 3‐4 kb probe generated off. dianthi. Recent research has shown that the 'emotional victim effect' (an emotional is more readily believed than a nonemotional victim) mediated by expectancy violation: people base their judgments about victim's credibility on expectations of suffering. Victims whose behavior inconsistent with these suffer loss credibility. In this article, we further examine role violation and explore possible negative effects highly post-crime reaction. Using several mediations, demonstrate three important...
