The encapsulation of actinide ions in intermetalloid clusters has long been proposed but was never realized synthetically. We report the isolation and experimental, as well quantum chemical, characterization uranium-centered [U@Bi12]3–, [U@Tl2Bi11]3–, [U@Pb7Bi7]3–, [U@Pb4Bi9]3–, upon reaction (EE′Bi2)2– (E = Ga, Tl, E′ Bi; E Pb) [U(C5Me4H)3] or [U(C5Me4H)3Cl] 1,2-diaminoethane. For magnetic susceptibility measurements rationalize an unprecedented antiferromagnetic coupling between a U4+ site...
Abstract Reactions of [K(crypt‐222)] 2 (TlBi 3 )⋅0.5 en ( 1 b ) with [Ru(cod)(H CC(Me)CH ] A in 1,2‐diaminoethane (en) led to the formation two compounds new bismuth‐rich cluster anions, [Bi 9 {Ru(cod)} ]⋅1.5 and [Tl Bi 6 {Ru(cod)}]⋅2 tol ), alongside salt a binary nido cluster, (Tl 4 5 )⋅2 ). The anions are further examples rare heterometallic clusters containing Ru atoms. As one cod ligand is retained on each atom both clusters, may be viewed as intermediates way towards larger,...
Abstract We present the results from a reactivity study of binary anion (TlBi 3 ) 2− towards Group 12 metal compounds MPh 2 (M=Zn, Cd, Hg) to gain access coordination polycyclic polypnictide molecules such as Bi 7 3− or 11 . The chemistry these polybismuthide cages has been unprecedented date, while it known for long time lighter 15 anions Pn (Pn=P, As, Sb). use , previously shown release Tl under certain conditions in situ, resulted formation first heterometallic polyanion which...
We report the small-scale synthesis, isolated yield, single-crystal X-ray structure, 1 H NMR solution spectroscopy /solid-state UV/Vis-nIR spectroscopy, and density functional theory (DFT)/ab initio wave function calculations on an Am3+ organometallic complex, [Am(C5 Me4 H)3 ] (1). This constitutes first quantitative data Am-C bonding in a molecular species.
Abstract Investigations of solid mixtures the elemental combinations A/Tl/Pb (A=Na, K) and K/Tl/Bi indicate presence multiple binary ternary Zintl phases, among them new ones containing Tl Pb or Bi, respectively. Extractions with en/crypt‐222 afford single crystals several novel anions, including [Tl@Tl 4 8 ] 4− (Tl Bi 3 ) 3− . adopts a closo ‐type cage structure despite possessing one additional electron; it is therefore isostructural, yet not isoelectronic, homoatomic 12 11− obtained by...

Abstract The hydrogenation of (+)‐Sclareolide to (−)‐ambradiol catalyzed by a manganese pincer complex is reported. reaction performed with an air‐ and moisture‐stable catalyst proceeds under relatively mild conditions at low base loadings. A range other esters could be successfully hydrogenated leading the corresponding alcohols in good quantitative yields using this easy‐to‐make catalyst. scale‐up experiment was 99.3 % isolated yield (−)‐Ambradiol.
Abstract Reaktionen von [K(crypt‐222)] 2 (TlBi 3 )⋅0.5en ( 1 b ) mit [Ru(cod)(H CC(Me)CH ] A in 1,2‐Diaminoethan (en) führten zur Bildung zweier Verbindungen neuen, Bi‐reichen Clusteranionen, [Bi 9 {Ru(cod)} ]⋅1.5en und [Tl Bi 6 {Ru(cod)}]⋅2tol ), sowie des Salzes eines binären nido‐Clusters, (Tl 4 5 )⋅2en ). Die Anionen gehören zu den seltenen heterometallischen Clustern Ru‐Atomen. Da beiden Fällen je ein cod‐Ligand pro Ru‐Atom gebunden blieb, lassen sich die als Intermediate auf dem Weg...
Abstract The list of “classical” tellurides with organic cations was expanded by the synthesis single‐crystalline salts [Li 2 ( en ) n ](Te x = ethylenediamine) 4, 1 ), and 5, 3 [K( 18c6 )] (Te 1, 4,7, 10, 13, 16‐hexaoxacycloocta‐decane) 4 5 6 [K([2.2.2] crypt 7 ([2.2.2] 7,13, 16, 21, 24‐hexaoxa‐1, 10‐diazabicyclo[8.8.8]‐hexacosane). Electronic structure calculations on free molecules periodic approaches are discussed compared experimental UV/Vis spectra, providing a correlation bandgaps...
Abstract Die Reaktivität des binären Anions (TlBi 3 ) 2− gegenüber Gruppe‐12‐Metallverbindungen MPh 2 (M=Zn, Cd, Hg) wurde studiert, um einen Zugang zu Koordinationsverbindungen polyzyklischer Moleküle wie Bi 7 3− oder 11 erhalten.
The (hydroxy)carbonylation of tertiary aliphatic alcohols and their corresponding olefins with a Ni-based catalyst system is investigated. This study builds on previous mechanistic investigation into the Ni-catalyzed carbonylation alcohols. findings differed from what could be explained previously reported mechanisms, prompting this in-depth study. Combined experimental quantum chemical efforts are crucial for rationalization observed reactivities ultimately help reveal another...
