microRNA (miRNA) are important regulators of gene expression. In patients with ischemic stroke we have previously shown that differences in immune cell expression present. this study sought to determine the miRNA differentially expressed peripheral blood cells acute and thus may regulate expression.miRNA from forty-eight vascular risk factor controls were compared. Differentially determined by microarray qRT-PCR confirmation. The targets pathways associated be regulated identified...
Introduction Cavernous sinus hemangiomas (CSHs) are rare, vascular, extra-axial tumors that diagnosed with a combination of imaging and biopsy. We describe the clinical presentations, findings, management two male patients CSHs. Case Report 1 describes 57-year-old man who presented vision changes cranial nerve palsies. Initial surgical biopsy were nondiagnostic. Follow-up Tc-99m tagged red blood cell (RBC) supported CSH diagnosis. He was treated resection radiotherapy. 2 chronic headache....
Aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH) is the most common cause of nontraumatic SAH. Current guidelines generally recommend observation for unruptured intracranial aneurysms smaller than 7 mm, those are considered at low risk spontaneous rupture according to available scoring systems. We observed a tendency SAH in small patients who methamphetamine users. A retrospective, single center study characterize size and location ruptured users was performed.Clinical characteristics patient data...
Cavernous sinus hemangioma (CSH) is a rare lesion, representing only 2 to 3% of all pathologies within the cavernous sinus. Clinical presentation similar for masses—pressure on nearby structures may result in diplopia, ptosis, trigeminal symptoms, and headache. Due their rarity, CSH often misdiagnosed as meningiomas, two lesions have many similarities imaging studies. Distinguishing between these critical, however, since accurate diagnosis can impact treatment prognosis.
Abstract Objective Multiple guidelines have been published for appropriate imaging in patients with ankle-related symptoms which suggest radiographs as the initial examination both acute and chronic ankle abnormalities. Few studies evaluated adherence to these guidelines. This study retrospectively utilization of MRI preceding based on ordering provider group indication. Materials methods A total 4186 MRIs performed over a 9-year period at single institution were presence and/or foot two...
Objective The aim of the study was to evaluate prevalence malignancy on contrast-enhanced computed tomography (CT) abdomen and pelvis in patients with unexplained, unintentional weight loss (UUWL). Methods This is a retrospective review 999 adult outpatient CT for UUWL. Patients were stratified into 2 groups: (1) only (WLO, n = 222) (2) UUWL additional symptoms (UUWL+, 777). χ test performed compare detection rate WLO UUWL+ groups. Results Prevalence 5.3% (95% confidence interval [CI],...
