Abstract In the last decade, use of multivariate statistical techniques developed for analytical chemistry has been adopted widely in food science and technology. Usually, chemometrics is applied when there a large complex dataset, terms sample numbers, types, responses. The results are used authentication geographical origin, farming systems, or even to trace adulteration high value‐added commodities. this article, we provide an extensive practical pragmatic overview on main tools studies,...

Green coconut fiber, a lignocellulosic material native from Brazilian northeast coast, was chemically treated by three methods: NaOCl, NaOCl/NaOH or H2O2. The effect of these treatments on the structure, composition and properties fibers studied using SEM, FTIR, XPS, TGA other analyses. SEM showed that treatment with H2O2 is most efficient in terms waxy fatty acid residues removal but it does not modify surface chemical composition, can be seen FTIR wettability results. analyses revealed...

Research involving lignin use is not new. For many years, the macromolecule was underestimated in its potential and burned for energy pulp paper industries. However, with advent of biorefinery on valorization lignocellulosic fractions, receiving greater motivation to be researched. Of applications, most profitable one conversion into carbon fiber. Lignin-based fibers can reduce manufacturing price this fiber values than 35%, besides using a renewable material highly sustainable appellation....

Environmental, economic, and technical reasons justify research efforts aiming to provide natural materials with possibility of replacing synthetic fiber composites. Commonly known lignocellulosic fibers, such as jute, sisal, flax, hemp, coir, cotton, wood, bamboo have not only been investigated reinforcement polymeric matrices but already applied in automobile components. Less common curaua, henequen, fique, buriti, olive husk, kapok are recently being studied potential owing their...

Passion fruit mesocarp flour (MF) is a material of low-cost, because it can be produced from industrial processing juices. The aim this study was to develop flexible films based on MF, and characterize their barrier, chemical, microscopic, thermal mechanical properties, as well evaluate the rheological properties filmogenic solution used produce them. use clay nanoparticles (NP) also investigated. Films MF were prepared by casting method, with glycerol plasticizer. film forming more viscous...

The influence of encapsulating carbohydrates (EC) with varying properties on the technological and functional jussara pulp microparticles produced by spray drying were evaluated using experimental design. Microparticles sodium octenyl succinate (OSA) starch at 0.5 core to EC ratio mixtures inulin maltodextrin 1.0 2.0 showed darker color, higher anthocyanins contents antioxidant activity. Seven showing high water solubility desirable surface morphology. Hygroscopicity (10.7% 11.5%)...

CLA was microencapsulated by spray drying in ten varied wall systems (WS) consisting of pea protein isolate or concentrate (PPC) alone at core:WS ratios (1:2; 1:3 and 1:4), blended with maltodextrin (M) carboxymethylcellulose a protein:carbohydrate ratio 3:1. The physical–chemical properties the microparticles were characterised core retention, microencapsulation efficiency (ME), particle size moisture. CLA:M:PPC (1:1:3) showed most promising results, thus we evaluated effect M addition WS...
