We describe the target selection algorithm for low latitude disk portion of LAMOST Pilot Survey, which aims to test systems in preparation spectroscopic survey. use PPMXL astrometric catalog, provides positions, proper motions, B/R/I magnitudes (mostly) from USNO-B and J/H/Ks Two Micron All Sky Survey (2MASS) as well. chose eight plates along Galactic plane, region 0° < α 67° 42° δ 59°, cover 22 known open clusters with a range ages. Adjacent may have some small overlapping area. Each plate...
A total of ∼640, 000 objects from the LAMOST pilot survey have been publicly released. In this work, we present a catalog DA white dwarfs (DAWDs) entire survey. We outline new algorithm for selection (WDs) by fitting Sérsic profiles to Balmer Hβ, Hγ, and Hδ lines spectra, calculating equivalent width Ca ii K line. Two thousand nine hundred sixty-four candidates are selected constraining parameters All spectra visually inspected. identify 230 DAWDs (59 which already included in Villanova SDSS...
We outline the design of dark nights portion LAMOST Pilot Survey, which began observations in 2011 October. In particular, we focus on Milky Way stellar candidates that are targeted for LEGUE (LAMOST Experiment Galactic Understanding and Exploration) survey. discuss regions sky spectroscopic were selected, motivations selecting each these areas. Some limitations due to unique telescope discussed, including requirement a bright (V < 8) star be placed at center plate wavefront sensing active...
We present the observed Hα flux and derived star formation rates (SFRs) for a fall sample of low-surface-brightness galaxies (LSBGs). The is selected from sky region 40% ALFALFA H i Survey–SDSS DR7 photometric data, all images were obtained using 2.16 m telescope, operated by National Astronomy Observatories, Chinese Academy Sciences. A total 111 LSBGs was measured in 92 them. Though almost our are i-rich, their SFRs, extinction filter-transmission-corrected flux, less than 1 M☉ yr−1....
The LAMOST pilot survey has produced a data release containing over 600,000 stellar spectra. By cross-checking with large time series photometric database of RR Lyrae stars in high Galactic latitude regions, we found total number 157 that have been observed LAMOST. In this sample, successfully captured three the fast expansion phase, all them showing hypersonic shock wave features Balmer line region. We fit shape Hα region and determine emission feature seen within broadened absorption...
Abstract We have obtained CO( J = 2−1) spectra of nine face-on low surface brightness galaxies using the JCMT 15 m telescope and observed H α images 2.16 NAOC. As no CO has been detected, only upper limits on 2 masses are given. The total molecular hydrogen about <?CDATA $(1.2\mbox{--}82.4)\times {10}^{7}\,{M}_{\odot }$?> . Their star-formation rates mainly lower than $0.4\,{M}_{\odot yr −1 efficiencies $1.364\times {10}^{-10}\,$?> Our results show that absence gas content is direct reason...
We present a spectroscopic redshift catalog from the LAMOST Complete Spectroscopic Survey of Pointing Area (LaCoSSPAr) in Southern Galactic Cap (SGC), which is designed to observe all sources (Galactic and extragalactic) by using repeating observations with limiting magnitude two fields. The project mainly focusing on completeness ExtraGAlactic Surveys (LEGAS) SGC, deficiencies source selection methods, basic performance parameters telescope. In both fields, more than 95% galaxies have been...
The near-Earth (within $\sim 100$ pc) supernova explosions in the past several million years can cause global deposition of radioactive elements (e.g., $^{60}$Fe) on Earth. remnants such supernovae are too old to be easily identified. It is therefore great interest search for million-year-old neutron stars or black holes, products supernovae. However, and holes challenging find even our Solar neighbourhood if they not radio pulsars X-ray/$\gamma$-ray emitters. Here we report discovery one...
Abstract The nature of shock waves in nonfundamental mode RR Lyrae stars remains a mystery because limited spectroscopic observations. We apply pattern recognition algorithm on data from SDSS and LAMOST report the first evidence hydrogen emission first-overtone (RRc) multimode (RRd) showing “first apparition,” which is most prominent observational characteristic variables. find 10 RRc SDSS, LAMOST, 3 RRd that show blueshifted Balmer emissions. features possibly indicate existence waves....
We report the discovery of a low-surface-brightness (27.42 mag arcsec^(-2) in g band) nebula, which has ring-like shape Beijing-Arizona Sky Survey (BASS). Positive detections have been found multiband data from far ultraviolet to infrared, except z band BASS and W1, W2 Wide-field Infrared Explorer. The reddening nebula E(B - V) ~ 0.02 is estimated Astronomical Satellite (IRAS) 100 micron intensity HI column density. With help 3D map Pan-STARRS 1, Two Micron All Survey, Gaia, distance about...
A precise transit ephemeris serves as the premise for follow-up exoplanet observations. We compare TESS Objects of Interest (TOI) timings 262 hot Jupiters with archival and find 31 them having TOI timing offsets, among which WASP-161b shows most significant offset -203.7$\pm$4.1 minutes. The median value these offsets is 17.8 minutes, equivalent to 3.6 $σ$. generate in each sector Jupiters, using a self-generated pipeline. pipeline performs photometric measurements images produces by fitting...
Steps toward the nature inside RR Lyrae variables can not only improve our understanding of variable stars but also innovate precision when we use them as tracers to map structure universe. In this work, develop a hand-crafted one-dimensional pattern recognition pipeline fetch out "first apparitions", most prominent observational characteristic shock. We report first detection hydrogen emission lines in first-overtone and multi-mode variables. find that there is an anti-correlation between...
Hydrogen emissions of RR Lyrae variables are the imprints shock waves traveling through their atmospheres. We develop a pattern recognition algorithm, which is then applied to single-epoch spectra SDSS and LAMOST. These two spectroscopic surveys covered $\sim$ 10,000 photometrically confirmed stars. discovered in total 127 stars with blueshifted Balmer emission feature, including 103 fundamental mode (RRab), 20 first-overtone (RRc), 3 double-mode (RRd), 1 Blazhko type (temporary...
In its first two observing seasons, the LEGUE (LAMOST Experiment for Galactic Understanding and Exploration; Deng et al ., Zhao . 2012) survey has obtained ~1.7 million science-quality spectra. We apply corrections to PPMXL proper motions (PMs; Roeser 2010) as a function of position, determined from measured PMs extragalactic objects discovered in LAMOST spectra (see Fig. 1, left center panels). radial velocities corrected are used derive 3D space ~480,000 F-stars (assuming M V =4...
