A new and very occasional pest of lychee trees (Litchi chinensis) was recently identified from New Caledonia—the endemic weevil Acanthopygus griseus Montrouzier, 1861 (Coleoptera: Anthribidae). This is the first report an anthribid causing significant damage to living trees.
