Bacteria of the genus Desulfovibrio belong to group Sulphate Reducing (SRB). SRB generate significant liabilities in petroleum industry, mainly due their ability microbiologically induce corrosion, biofilm formation and H
Bovine mastitis remains the main cause of economic losses for dairy farmers. Mammary pathogenic Escherichia coli (MPEC) is related to an acute and its treatment still based on use antibiotics. In era antimicrobial resistance (AMR), bacterial viruses (bacteriophages) present as efficient or prophylactic option. However, this makes it essential that genetic structure, stability interaction with host immune system be thoroughly characterized. The study analyzed a novel, broad host-range...
ABSTRACT The RNA chaperone Hfq regulates diverse processes in numerous bacteria. In this study, we compared phenotypes (growth rate, adherence, response to different stress conditions and virulence Galleria mellonella) of wild-type (WT) isogenic hfq mutants three serovars (1, 8 15) the porcine pathogen Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae. Similar growth rich broth was seen for all strains except Ap1∆hfq, which showed slightly reduced throughout 24 h time course, complemented Ap8∆hfqC mutant had...
Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae is the etiologic agent of porcine pleuropneumonia. Currently, there are 18 different serotypes; serotype 8 most widely distributed in United States, Canada, Kingdom, and southeastern Brazil. In this study, genomes seven A. clinical isolates were compared to other twelve serotypes. The analyses resulted a set 2352 protein-coding sequences. Of these sequences, 76.6% present all serotypes, 18.5% shared with some 4.9% differential. This differential portion was...
The teaching-learning process becomes more attractive when practical classes are used as part of methodological tools. Aiming (i) to stimulate the interest high school students in microbiological world and (ii) provide didactic experience for microbiology graduate students, were undertaken. These carried out during years 2016 2017, using infrastructure held at Universidade Federal de Viçosa. Briefly, laboratory prepared taught by an evaluation questionnaire was answered participants after...
