Abstract Background Ulcerative colitis (UC) carries an increased risk of primary and recurrent Clostridiodes difficile infection (rCDI), CDI is associated with UC flares. We hypothesized that specific fecal microbial changes associate flare rCDI. Methods conducted a prospective observational cohort study 57 patients CDI, only, only. Stool samples were collected at baseline, the end antibiotic therapy, after reconstitution for 16S rRNA sequencing. The outcomes Logistic regression Lasso models...
Intestinal fibrosis and subsequent intestinal obstruction are common complications of Crohn's disease (CD). Current therapeutics combat inflammation, but no pharmacological therapy exists for fibrostenotic disease. Pathological persistence activated myofibroblasts is a key driver in CD. In other organ systems, BH-3 mimetic drugs that affect Bcl-2 apoptotic pathways induce apoptosis reduce fibrogenic gene expression, thereby reducing fibrosis.

Abstract Background Previous research within the Beaumont Infectious Diseases Research Program found an overall increase in antibiotic resistance adult males versus females. Furthermore, there is a peak 18-29-year-old males, not seen The origin of this early adults unclear. This study examines these trends pediatric patient population. Methods Resistance data for all Gram-negative bacterial clinical isolates from Health System’s microbiology lab between October 1st, 2010, and December 31st,...
